It`s nice! I`ll never go back to working on-shore again!
But we have a better turnus in norway, 2/3 - 2/4
Ofcourse it depends a bit on what rig your at, some are pretty old and crappy..

Heres my favourite place of work, Sleipner A, norwegian Statoil rig. 14 years old but still nice:

Heres a pic of its firs set of shafts, they sunk in the ocean before the rig was mounted on top, due to a wrong calculation for amout of armour in the concrete, one of the most expencive idustrial mistakes in norway:

Steve-

Even if this lasts for 6 months only... the money you earn extra can be put to one side, invested etc....

Just take it as a windfall....

If it lasts a long time then keep it going and eventually pay off your mortgage and what not...

Job done

Offshore life rocks.

What job exactly have you been offered and what company? That seems like a rather hefty rise. Day rates can be pretty high if you're self employed but to get that from a company has to be a DAMN good job!

Highest paid welders I've ever come accross....
So what job is it for then, 100k seems a bit optimistic i think, maybe around 75k i would think and that would be for a company rep. OIM etc.... I supose if it's contract work then you could maybe get near that, i can go for £400 a day contracting but you don't get any holiday pay, sick pay, health benefits, pension etc...

Your never too old to do the drilling course,my mates doing it now in oslo norway,he has to pay for it himself, around 2.5 k£,and he,s not guaranteed a job at the end of it,but a good course to do involves all hydraulic education and drilling so even if he dont get on the rigs he,ll end up with a decent job anyhow
i think??? after he,s qualified he,ll be on 2 weeks off 3 and on 2 off 4 and around £3k a month
theres more oppertunities in other parts of the world gulf etc.... you can make easily £4k a month but as he has a child norway will be perfect he,s based near the swedish-norweigan border
thinking about it myself

Exactly.

Night company rep would be 70-80k i reckon. Day rep perhaps nearer £100k. OIM i think is about £100-120k.

For a standard rig welder i'd guess £50k which is similar to sparkies and mech's.

I dunno about shockingly poor, rousties are bottom of the rung and no experience and qualifications are really needed, some companies are paying £23k+ for them and around £30k for stewards etc... not bad if your a bum off the street, or about 19/20 year old. I wouldn't want to be a roustie tho....
