Thats the ntloader thats missing. wont load without it.
i doubt it will work in safe mode or anything either, but its worth a punt. f8 on boot up.
or do you have a floppy drive? is there a disk in there? it could be trying to boot from that device first. if theres a disk in the drive, take it out and reboot.
if not, it could be a faulty hard drive or just a corrupt OS.

corrupt operating system. It doesnt mean your laptop s screwed mate, just that either the installation of XP, or 2000 or whatever you have on there is corrupt and wont load. you could try using the recovery console. You will need to boot from your original CD to access that. Thats where i would start.

only chance to boot that puppy is off the cdrom or maybe a windows PE environment off a usb stick (depends really on the bios if u can boot from usb)

start xp setup from the cd. after the hard disk has been detected there is a recovery option and this option fixes a broken o/s 9 times out of 10 for us. good luck.
