Basically my work van will be fitted with a tracker within the next 2 months or so. I'm not to fussed about working a tad longer on site but at the moment it's usefull to have it for the odd trip on the weekends! I don't really want to buy a runabout car as then there will be 6 vehicals outside my house!!! Nooooo room!! Was wondering if theres away of disconnecting it when home from work (eg: 6pm), drive to the local town, shops, gym wherever, then reconnect it when your back home ready to start up again in the morning!?

When we first had them fitted about 5 years ago, several people tried to disable them in the day, all that did was generate a phone call from the "tracker man" to meet him somewhere to investigate the missing signal.
Do you have private use of the van?
With the change in tax on vans companies are probably going to use tracker to prove you are not using it out of hours and therefore don't need to be taxed on it.
Some systems have a privacy switch which allows you to turn off the tracker from viewing in your office but it still records on the makers server and can be recalled if needed for legal reasons.

You would need another aerial....
You would then need to see how its powered..
The ones I fit just have 3 wires- so when its parked you could disconnect it from the car GPS antenna and reconnect to your "home" one and then clip on your new power source so it doesn't register a disconnection/batt low signal.
Then remove and leave it at home... reconnect when you come home.
But it would be a fuckin nightmare to do.
