Default sierra mk2 to mk1 conversion

I have seen plenty of mk1 sierra's with mk2 front ends and tail lights,so can you make a mk2 look like a mk1 just as easily?

if you can get the body panels which are harder to get hold of as they are older. Ford do not do most of the panels anymore.

Also the rear quarters are different as the shape of the rear lights are different.

Will need new front wings for a mk1 which are no longer available from ford. Grill, etc.

I have a suitable mk1 donor car,its differences such as inner wings, front panel etc that I need to know about. i'm pretty sure when converting mk1 rear lights to mk2 the quarter is not changed.

you will need to change

front slam panel and headlight panel
possible crossmember not sure
front wings
bonnet
grill

dont know if the scttle panels are different either

the rar end is different
sure the complete back panel is different and the rear quarers are different for the lights as the 3drf lights are triangualr at the ends and the mk2 isnt

lot of work but can be done

plus what mk2 3dr have you got or do you want to do it a 5 door or saf

a mk1 saff did cross my mind, but it would be a 5 door sierra. if I manage to find a decent mk1 shell, then problem solved. it was just an idea.

Well this conversion is a definate goer. I compared cars at my local scrappy, and the rear lights are a piece of piss. The middle section of the rear lights needs cutting out to make the mk1 light fit,as on the mk1,and the outer mounting holes are in the exact same position. I had the mk1 rear light bolted on to the mk2,and aside from the obvious difference in shape on the rear quarter, they go straight on,the look could be finished with filler, but would be better with steel. And i have seen a p100 with a mk1 front end,so its game on!

Also, the conversion would be a lot more difficult on a saph,as the rear lights stick out more. I cracked a rear light on my saph, and fitted a spare light from a 5 door, and it was sat at an angle towards the car,and looked shit.

Well if the above shell checks out o.k. then it will be problem solved.
But i still need something to bolt my parts to so a cheap mk2 5 door will be the order of the day while i prepare the new shell,so the mk2 to mk1 conversion will be done for, shall we say, research purposes!

What V8 are you talking about ? the Rover/TVR engine will probably be around the same weight as a YB the 302 Ford will be a lot heavier.
