I have a folder in my desktop that xp wont let me delete. It just contains some downloads, it keep saying part is missing Is there any software about to delete this folder

from a dos prompt type

Start -> Run -> cmd [enter]

type

chkdsk c: /F

asuming c: is your hard disk drive that should go through all your files and folders and fix any issues with corruption you should then be able to delete your directory

First thing to do is to make sure that any download programs are closed usually they lock the folder when running and then try and delete the folder.

Then if not go to start - run type cmd

in there you need to get to the desktop folder you'll need to type cd desktop

then type dir /x there you'll get a out put like this


C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>dir /x
Volume in drive C has no label.
Volume Serial Number is ACB1-BFC4

you need to find the folder name and then look to the right for the foldername~1 then type del foldername~1
