pc boffins, please help
i'm trying to find out what is up with my pc
it crashes ALL the time, sometimes after 2 mins, spometimes after 3 hours but it alwasy happens.
so far:
i did a ram check...and thats fine
all the cpu temps etc have been fine
i replaced the hd, but it kept crashing during the install, so i have a new HD to use when i have fixed my pc.
as far as i know the psu is fine so i have put it down to either the cpu or the motherboard. which is it nore likely to be...as i would like to replace one or the other not both. its only and AMD 1.4 and only used for itunes and internet surfing so just need a cheap fix
any guidance appreciated

What ram check did you do?
look for a proggie called memtest. You install it onto a floppy disk then boot from that floppy. And it cycles through a load of memory tests each time highlighting a failure. You shouldnt really get any failures if your memory is fine.
Alternatively if you have 2 memory modules, remove one and if it still crashes try the other. It may just be one of them that is faulty.

you say your hard drive kept crashing during install and you have a new one ready to go in when the pc is fixed. It could be the HDD that is causing the problem. Especially if it crashes during install and you havent replaced it yet.
if you dont get any joy with it, im happy to take a look at it for you. I see you are in N20. I work in enfield, on southbury road, and live in watford, so not far from you.
ps. its what i do for a living

right it always used to do it with the old hard drive, i guessed it may be that and was offered a new one, i fitted it and when installing windows it kept doing it
i did the ram check, similar to the one suggested above and it passed 9 times.
it just seems to freeze up every time i use it
