The MD240 will struggle to achieve 450bhp and the T38 will be very close to it's limit at that power. So best if you tell us what your maximium bhp is that you want to achieve. Also your compression ratio is too high and your cam choice is shit .

Also a budget would help, as fitting an external wastegated turbo is going to cost several hundred more than one that is internal (due to having to purchase a suitable wastegate / getting Martin to modifiy your manifold or buying a tubular one).

Phil,
No I don't run 8:1 . And I have more than that .

What lag ?

Dom,
The genuine RS500 intercooler recorded the HIGHEST reduction in temp of ALL the intercoolers .

Oh I hate my tuner.....
With the sort of combo you have now, I'd say you'll be knocking on the door of high 19's

Not sure what the turbine of the GT30 is like in integral format, the GT30 with external wastegate and biggest exhaust housing appears to have the ability on paper to flow 500bhp, but won't know exactly until a few more weeks. Will still require 30-32psi, so again you c/r is way too high for that.

T4 can do it, but needs to run 32psi to do so, so your c/r will be way too high for that.

Best to get a GT35 and run less boost to achieve the power (maybe), but you still may need to lower the c/r.

If it was a car that was going to be used agressively, I would say that a custom intercooler such as the ones on Lee's, Martin's, Sean's, Karl's and Brom's cars would be best. But given your driving style the Radtec racing one would be perfectly acceptable.

The EECIV plenum should be able to flow 500bhp .

Mark Shead says the GT30 internal WILL do 500bhp..not on my cams though ...Just want the max........so maybe T4 at 28psi will acheive 460 ish.

The MD240 "R" seems the best on paper though.

Phil,
With my c/r (which is lower than yours), I can only run 1.7 bar held...

My choice would be the GT30.

Comp is toooo high IMO too.

Id use a GT30 minimum for 500bhp, tho i know someone whos recently had their cossie engine dynod at just over 500 on a MD240R, but still, id prefer summat bigger (jus like mike says to you in bed IMA )

Thanks

Steve "Lowest comp GTR engine in the UK" Neophytou

PS- What ARE the numbers (lift and duration) for BD10s anyhow?

I wouldn't be on your spec, as I would be sensible enough not to dig my heals in about certain aspects of the spec. Cams are cheap enough to change / reprofile, so I would speak to ONE person who I had decided I would take advice from (Mark is talking to you at present , so LISTEN to him ) and see what they thought.

My final advice would be to NOT chase numbers, and go for driveability. This WILL mean cam changes AND lowering the c/r to achieve the figure you want and make the car drive nicely.

I love the way my car drives (and would NEVER go back to the likes of my Sapphire), so I would suggest a GT30 and some short duration cams to get it on boost ASAP. This will mean the car will not be as exciting to drive as your last conversion, but will mean you will probably get more from it.

Why is the c/r such an issue when the Ruud racing cossie was running high comp and 650bhp at 1.7bar ?

Do you BELIVE the Ruud Racing c/r?

I know the comp ratio of the mega power norwiegan granada cossie and its VERY low.

IMO most people who claim high comp are lying...

And dont forget running mega octane race fuel ups the safe/worthwhile comp ratio you can have.

Says who? No-one knows exactly what the c/r is apart from the engine builder, just because someone "claims" high comp, how do you know they aren't leading you up the garden path with disinformation? .

There goes loads of people building high comp engines and blowing them to pieces and the person who started the high comp rumour can have a laugh at your expense, as you try and achieve what he has gained from proper experience and end up getting nowhere .

In the GTR world in the UK they all scoff at the thought of comps lower than 8.5:1, even at MASSIVE power, i cant wait to tell them how low ive gone

But then again they all got 280deg cams and then they wonder why they laggy bags of shit

Its all bullshit, smoke n mirrors, even Mikes just said it, and once one person says it, the rumours spread and spread, without most the people saying it knowing the reason for what they saying, and the rest who say it deliberatley missleading people, lol.

High comp HAS its uses, but not really in a road engine on road fuel with no restrictions due to race regs etc

IMO do what ive done with my car, low comp, low duration, big turbo, big boost, everyones a winner, lol.

The answer is racefuel!! On pumpgas 98 octane the power was in the region of 540 bhp at max!! And the car that was rated at 658 hp had a comp of 7:1.

Mike: You obviuosly dont agree with Phil's choice of c/r and cams. What would you say his c/r and cam choice should be just out of interest?

7.2:1 & a pair of MAD cams similar to my old engine, 500brake & 490torque goes well with that combo Phil.
