Default Cosworth paranoia saved my engine today

Was nipping to the local motor factors about an hour ago to get some pads for my track toy. As i have a rather large dose of Cosworth paranoia i always have my heaters on hot and number one, with the drivers vent blowing on my hand Just approaching a bit of road i ALWAYS give her death down and the heaters suddenly start blowing cold

luckily there is a petrol station about 50 yards away, so i coasted in there, popped the bonnet and supprise supprise no water in the header tank It took 5 pints to fill her up Bled her through and hey presto got heaters again Looked for leaks but could not find any

Going to have to have a good examination tomorrow, any one else suffer the strange Cosworth paranoia were the stereo is always on low so you can hear if thing falls off

brian, the water has got to have come out of the engine some how
you need to check it over carefully

Check the carpets for dampness by drivers / pasenger feet, could have a leaky heater matrix.

I took the stereo out of my cossie years ago, straight cut dog box sounds better than most of the crap on the radio anyway

i dont actually have my stereo on 98 per cent of the time, partly down to paranoia and partly down to concentrating more on the driving.

but yeah the paranoia thing is big for so many cossie owners.well the ones that care for their cars.

My 2wd sapphire kept losing water but whenever i looked i couldnt find a leak anywhere

After a few weeks of topping up the coolant one morning i was on my way to work and steam started pouring from under the bonnet. It turned out it was one of the water pipes on the turbo had cracked and gradually got worse.

Used to be well paranoid when driving any of my RS's "what's that noise / smell / rattle" etc (delete as appropriate)

Never had any paranoia issue's with my evo or any of my non ford cars.

I feel like I am flying when I drive a cossie, constant system checks, always keeping an eye on the engine guages - sure it is less strenuous work flying, least there is an auto pilot

as he said. i've had that on both of my cossies. very difficult to spot as a gradual trickle comes out and evaporates on the exhaust manifold

Now then bri! this has just happened to mine and found that the steel pipe on the btm of the rad was rotten and was seaping out then soon as i touched it the water just pissed out! Fixed that and let it run for a while then noticed water coming from between the head n the block under the exhaust manifold! Head gasket for me
