Think he has 7 days, if he's not happy with any of the terms and conditions, he has the right to return it.

I think there is some kind of cooling off period if its on a finance deal.

More to the point, I really cant understand how anyone can buy something without knowing how much its going to cost them. Of course if its gone up in price from the original agreement or wasnt explained properly, then fair enough, but i cant see why people dont add it all up first. Still, live and learn i suppose.

TAKE IT BACK ASAP, properly read the contract first to make sure you know your stuff.

I have a mate selling an 04 Corsea SXi with 28K and he is the only owner, very nice little car, Ł4500 for a quick sale as he is buying a place and needs a deposit.

Possibly get down to Citizens Advice before you go so that you know if it can go back. Most places have a cooling off period.

I went to a simiar place once, just out of interest, fook me they are savage.

Big pressure to buy, all ex auction cars, offered me nearly double what my car was worth on a trade in, BUT they were asking twice as much as there car was worth (9k) on a V plate fiesta and this was around 3 years ago

Plus the interest was crazy, i would have paid around Ł13-14K back

Always get a bank loan, and go and buy private, save loads, more haggling and if anything happens, the loan is not secured on the car so you can sell it and pay the loan off without worrying about it being on HPi till you pay it off

No statutory cooling-off period if he signed the agreement at the garage, though some places will allow returns as it is good practice.

If he didn't read the deal properly I'm sure that he will have learned something for next time! And that is about as sympathetic as I can get.

Ah...The car Giant!!!
firstly ...they wont entertain you , as they will not refund you any money etc .
the only circumstance they will help you , is that if you drive down the road and the engine falls out . they may come to some agreement.
if the car has a major defect then allbeit on your head once you drive off.
thats why when you go there , do your homework and buy something fairly new so that you still have some remaining manufacturers warranty.
also they are such a big company , they still charge the cust 71+vat sales admin sharge...wot a rip!!
...
