I had a blue (faded) mk3 1.3 5dr escort, that i paid £50 notes for, reliable for the first week then after that i would have to pour a drop of petrol down the carb every morning to get it started

mine was a S1 replica !!!!!!!!!!! i bought a 1.1 c reg escort with a 1.6 lump in it . funny cos it had a 5 speed gear knob but when i went to reverse it i couldnt find reverse>?>?> that wa because it was a 4 speed gearbox
it had the kit and S2 wheels and rs1600i interior . so i went and saw a mate and got the right wheels and interior , bought a sticky kit and put it on .
then whacked my L plates on , got my mate to sit next to me and i was off !!!!
bloody loved that car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1st car was a white 2.0 Manta GTE with all the irmscher kit on it , insurance was only £780 TPFT, most of my mates were paying more for 1.1 metro's and fiestas - Not a bad car for a 17yr old, and probably why I love RWD so much - awsome fun....
that died after 3 months, after failing its mot so miserably they refused to let me drive it home, the MOT tester had a right go at me, then put his arm up through the arch and pulled the accelerator pedal down so took it back to the dealer I had it off, and got my money back (as it should never have been sold in the state it was in - problem was, mint body, but no floor left and the brake lines were corroded to fook )
Drove round in my dads volvo 340 for a few weeks, until my old boss appeared out of the blue and sold me his Fiat uno turbo, as I had always loved it. Had that for 6 months, turned 18 in that time. MOT time was rapidly approaching, and I knew it was going to fail miserably, so I px'ed it for a Mk 2 Astra GTE 16v that had been tuned to fook. Insurance was a bit of a killer (£1500) but what a car, used to rev like a motorbike and was fast as fook, considering I was 18!!!
Then in 2000, I passed my training for the RAF and got a nice big payrise, so I did the sensible thing and bought my first cossie, at the tender age of 19!!!! - Flint grey 2wd with 270BHP, full leather and 17" wheels..... Insurance still silly! (£1600!!!) but what a car at 19!!!!
And its all gone downhill since, I am a cossieholic
