lights randomly came on on my car and wont go off
i looked out of the window a few nights ago to find my nova was lighting up the house opposite.
i feared the worse tbh and walked out side expecting to find a broken window or something.
but there was nothing, was all locked up and alarm was on and hadnt gone off.
it was raining but not much.
i turned the lights switch on and nothing happened except the buzzer came on because the door was open.
turned the switch off and nothing changed.
in the end i just pulled the plugs off both lights and disconnected the battery.
any got any ideas why it may have done this?
im going to go and connect it all back up and see what happens.
but even if it is ok i would like to find out what caused it because if it happens when im out the battery will die and i'll be stuck.
are the lights a switched live or neg?

if its anything like my old N plate mk3 astra, in the passenger footwell behind the kick panel on the side, there is 2 massive multiplugs which connects the car's wiring loom together. Water had got in somewhere and shorted everything together, caused the indicators to flash permanently, interior light to flash with indicators, fuel gauge to go up to max when i opened the door, everything!!!!!
Could be worth a look here?

just incase any one is interested for the future, it was a small box on the loom that is the dim dip unit. it stops you driving with just your sidelights on in the dark. pointless EU bureaucracy and apparently not required in the UK.
so its in the bin and everything is working fine now!
