Default how do you find an electrical problem

my m8 told me to wire the 2 brown wires that go to the battery to l;ive when should have been earth now the main beam doint work how do you find and eliminate electrical faults or any1 near goole east yorkshire any good with auto electrics

you should of only bew the fuses mate. check those

checked them m8 what it is the side light come on but flick to main they all go of indicators dont work either i thought it might have been the stalk but with the sides coming on im not to sure.
thought it might be a reaylay not sure wich is lights and indicators
there is a major issue with the electrics as when i go over a bump the handbrake and abs light come on the dash, but putting that down to a lose earth

well wiring up the earth should of only blew the fuse. have you checked the bulbs? It does sound like you have a eath problem in truth. have you got all the earth straps on?

ye there all on i know 1 is lose just a bit of a git to get to im almopst certain thats causing the abs, handbrake light to come on going to do that tommoz but i know its defo not doing the lights, to be honest no i havent checked the bulbs and will do i just didnt really think they both would have blown including indicators , ion fact i know the indicxator lights havent blown cos the hazards did work after this but dont now

The side lights and hazards should come on with the ignition off. The indicators and headlights should only work with the ignition on.

Does the engine run? If not, then I'd start looking at the ignition relay, or a fuse in the same circuit, or the "fuseable link" if fitted (the first 8 inches or so of one of the smaller wires that goes onto the battery positive). If the engine does run, and it's only the stalk controls that are at fault, then double check the fuses.

ye it runs m8 gunner try a stalk of a m8 tommoro i think then at least i can oliminate that cheers
