Im a youth of the 90s so I remember going to a local Morrisons from about the age of 12 and watching all the "boy racers" handbraking about in cars such as XR2, XR3i, Astra GTE & SRi, Cav SRi, MG Meastro. (Oh happy days)![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
Did any of you do the same?
What was getting used and abused?

Not many, Just a focus TDCi and a mk3 fiesta, But in all honest my focus 1.6 Zetec MK2 i have now is lots more fun. I've absolutey ragged the arse of it since it had 10 miles on the clock. Never once been driven easy and always changed gear as it's about to bounce off the limiter. 25k Miles later and not a thing has ever gone wrong.
Fucking best car ever.

Most common when I was 16-18 sorta age round here was MG Metros, Mk3 Escorts, Orions, Mk1+2 Astra GTEs, Maestro Turbos, R5 and R11 turbos, and Saff Cossies.
Might want to read the thread again mate.

I remember driving through Wales once when I was about 8 or 9, and loads of rally cars kept over taking road cars.....
Can't remember what they were, but it was great to watch!

I forgot to mention mk2 golf gti's they were like clits round our way.
1st people had novas then went onto a mk2 golf gti 16v if your mam and dad had some spare cash lol, then to a clio 16v.
I was slightly different ax gt to a series 1 to a crx vtec

When I was really young the lads mainly had pre-war cars like 1930's Austin Ruby's etc.
The MOT was introduced in 1961 ( I think) , the pre-war stuff died over night. Before that the lads cars ran till they snapped their chassis with rust.
.
The next generation had Riley 1.5's, early minis & 105E's . I was a Mini man
& moddied them for a few years.

YES mate i remember Morrisons, Waters Edge, The Block yards and Shields ect, was Fantastic in there days, i so wanted to drive, have a car and go these places from the age of 15, luckily i was seing a girl who's dad was right into his cars so used to go cruising about with him in his motor. was fantastic when i passed my test and me and my mate used to go out in our white MK1 XR2'S. As said the COSWORTHS, XR'S, GTE'S, GTI'S and SRI'S, Top days them were.
