Default Exciting 'sensible' cars

soon the saff will be going

and i am gonna need something to get me to work and back, and also as i can only really afford one car, its gonna be my weekend transport too

i was toying with the idea of just getting a cheap car, like a 1500 BMW but upon looking it seems alot of these six pot beemers are a little thirsty..............so as i work for a diesel engineering compnay and need a car with good mpg for the commute i may go for a diesel.

i am a fan of big cars, but i was wondering what experinces you guys have had with any diesels.

my friend had a skoda fabia vRS which is an awesome car, but i couldnt put up with the stick, and its retty ugly.

just wondering what the PD golfs, ibizas, leons are like??

gonna be selling it i think

shame to do so, cos its a real nice one, but its just too much money tied up in it, i dont use it often, and its unsuitbale as a work car (dont want it getting beaten up and its rather thirsty, even with closed loop)

Im hacking about in an E34 520 (6pot) and like you say theyre a bit thirsty

But its worth it IMO, its cheap (To buy one), big, comfy, excellent ride, handles unbeleivably well for its age and size and because its not worth much, i dont mind throwing it at roundabouts at every given opportunity )

And they also do a Diesel (Booked at just over 40mpg iirc)

been looking at some nice 525tds's and there pretty good value at around 2k.

330d would be but its just over my price range

shame the vRS is a skoda, my mates old remapped one gave my stage 3 cossie a run for its money on the motorway (for about 5 secs )

Vw diesel is the one to get.

a3/golf/leon/toledo/a4/passat/a6

They're all excellent cars, and you won't be disappointed.

Onlys ones to avoid are the 90bhp.

e34 525d, nah, don't bother horrible to drive and not quick at all despite 140bhp?
