I left Honda Racing F1 to move into the tuning game, i halved my salary, i lost my company pension, company car, private healthcare and working around 40hrs a week.
I'm now working 80-90 hours a week and getting paid for 35 but i'm happy. I love what i do and i've never yet had a single day where i've clockwatched...
I was lucky to get my break in the tuning scene and to get in with such a top end company as RC Developments - this could well be the opportunity for someone who'll get a lot of happiness and knowledge from another top end company.

And i agree with Will, its NOT all about the money, if it was i would have taken many many well paid jobs that ive been offered, including one lecturing at a well known motorsport college for what i consider a very top employment package that i will NEVER even match, let alone beat whilst self employed.
Happiness and fun can be worth more than money in my opinion, but the lucky few will get both, maybe your one of teh lucky few Dave, and good on you if you are pal.

Going to work is not ALL about the money.
You only live once therefore you should enjoy your work, if you dont find something else, with 2. 5 million jobs currently available on the internet, there are plenty to go round.
I am sure you will fill the slot mate.

Hope you get the staff your after Stu!
I dont understand people saying "its too far!" BOLLOCKS!
Lamest reply's ever!!!
I moved 200miles and more than halved my wages to be at FF and i have never been happier in my working life!
If you think its for you, you should go for it!
I commute back home every weekend so i dont lose contact with friends and family etc.
Plus i now have a little pad down here to escape the Mrs's if she pisses me off! Perfect!
You spend far to long at work not to enjoy it. I have earned serious money on my doorstep but i hated it. Sure i had tons of cash and loads of material things but my bosses and the way things were run drove me mad!
Now im surrounded by southern fairy's and couldnt be happier!
waking up looking forward to go to work is an experience which money cant buy, and ill never get bored of it!
ooooh its too far!

What kind of person are you actually looking for Stu? Someone who's had previous experience in the Motor trade, or someone that's interested, done a little bit to their own cars, and willing to learn more???

For the first 20 years, IT IS!!
I left school half way through my A-levels at 17 after getting glandular fever.
Worked for a bank for 2 years, earnt 20k+ and it was ok, worked 9-5 and went out 4 nights a week and started pissing around with cars.
At 19 i decided i wanted to get into motorsport and make a hobby into a career, managed to get an interview at the National College for Motorsport, scored highly on their tests and in the interview and got accepted. Started there in September 2004, did a year there (still had outgoings of Ł600+ a month and so was doing doorwork to pay that...)
I also had to move 200+ miles from West Yorkshire down to Northamptonshire...
Worked voluntarily for Power Engineering, ADR Engineering and WRC Technologies, helping out with dyno days, making brews, sweeping floors and looking over peoples shoulders at the weekends and the occasional missed day at college.
Applied for an apprenticeship at Prodrive on Subaru World Rally Team, got down to the final 4 out of 350+ applicants and didn't make it. Applied for Honda Racing F1 almost on the rebound and after 5 stages of tests and interviews was successful.
Started at Honda Racing F1 in September 2005 aged 20 and was barely in 5 figures as a salary.
Left Honda Racing F1 in August 2006 after realising my heart wasn't in F1, it still lay in fast road cars and started with RC Developments in September 2006 aged 21. Meant another move back up north, but was definitely worth it. Not earning much more than i was at Honda, but am so much happier...

Could you honestly live on minimum wage? not a dig at stu as I agree this is all the job like this could command, but I dont know anyoen who could live on that wage, so I say money does matter. I'd love a job where you dont have to clock watch and hate every minute your there, but I cant afford one

For all you people thinking you aint qualified enough for this position, think again.
In my humble opinion, general common sense, loyalty, discresion(i.e not bragging on to everyone all the time about what youve seen and done), and a willingness to learn will be most of whats required. Stu and kenny are not stupid, and the succesfull applicant will be eased into the role, not just thrown the keys to a customers pride and joy.
But make no mistake, it aint no picnic.Flying round in cars with a laptop on your knee is only a VERY small percentage of this role, there is no glory without the pain and it can be very demanding at times.
Above all, honesty will be your biggest asset. You break something you tell someone, you loose something you tell someone, your only 99% sure that a certain wire gets connected, you ask someone.
Failure to operate this way in this line of work can be very costly.
Stu and kenny are great people to work for, the company is only small so dont expect to get rich, however the amount you can learn, and the atmosphere there is fantastic, so get those cv's in and dont be shy.
Oh and il be around the place once a week or so to cheer u up, and make sure your getting the mix of tea and milk correct!
Good luck peeps
