Does Anyone in The Blackpool Area fancy a Job here?
Due to Nick moving onto pastures new, as explained here:
https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=248160
We are now about to start looking for somebody to replace him, which will be a very tall order.
We are looking for someone who, above all, is bright, enthusiastic and willing to learn about mapping and general engine principles but is allready good with spanners and general fitting/removing of parts. I want to be able to mould you into someone who really knows engines and their corresponding technologies related to tuning inside out. I DONT expect you to allready understand it all...
The applicant would be expected to:
Service and repair vehicles where required. (mainly performance vehicles.)
Tune and Calibrate where required. (I.E: Setups etc)
Keep teh workshop and tools clean and tidy. (pride in your workplace)
Learn how to map management systems live with kenny and I. (Never alone)
Ask us if they are unsure about anything. (Heroes need not apply)
Make great tea. (& Coffee)
As an example of a working day, if Nick was here today he would have:
Cleaned up teh workshop as i left it a mess Saturday.
Made and drank tea.
Removed ECU from a Jaguar for kenny.
Removed a Turbo from an Escort Cosworth for sending to repair.
Drank tea Stu made.
Fitted all teh mapping gear, det cans and fuel monitors to a 2wd Sapphire Cosworth.
Fitted some 83lb siemens Injectors to it.
Scanned it with the IAW monitor and setup where required.
Made and drank tea.
Found and fixed the reason for no cooling fans.
Drank tea Stu made.
Diagnosed a dead battery, ordered and fitted a new one.
Made and drank tea.
Refitted Ecu to Jaguar for Kenny.
Drove to teh fuel station to fill a jerry can with petrol.
Drank tea Stu made.
Filled the Sapphire Cosworth with fuel.
Packaged some mail order for me, stuck labels on etc if time.
Gone out with me and done a little mapping.
There are no real qualifications in the tuning industry that relate to what i want from someone so we expect there will be a very varied response to the advertised position, meaning salary could vary greatly according to experience, so please dont waste your time asking on teh topic how much it will pay. If your inexperienced but enthusiastic and willing to learn fast, then national minimum would apply... A fully qualifuied and time served mechanic with experience in the performance industry would command a higher price, maybe even more than we are willing to pay, nothing is set in stone as yet.
If that sounds like a Job you could do, Please apply VIA PM to me personally.

Wow. What an opportunity...
If i wasn't at RC Developments i'd be there...
I would say to anyone who's thinking about it - go for it, i took a huge chance moving out of F1 into the tuning industry and i've never looked back and i can't think of a better employer than Stu

For me it either means leaving at 6am to beat the traffic or going up the 66 and down the 65 But saying that if a company car was thrown in the Grain Road would be a nice wake up test drive

i'd actually consider moving towards blackpool for a job with you at MSD. don't think i've got the experience that you'd want really though.
only been in the trade near 4 years, but i'm no YTS monkey, have a genuine interest in cars and i dont just do it for a job, lol i live eat, sleep and breath cars. quite a few people could vouch for it too. would love to try my hand in the performance world.

Stu, I had a similar issue when Mark left. Where do you find another Mark?
However, after advertising, and nobody quite what I wanted coming into the frame, I searched my memory banks for someone that "I'd like to have working for me" and came up with Smithy. He was 59 at the time...
So I phoned him.
He was working for a Ford dealership down here. He agreed to come and work for me, understanding that he'd be pretty much a trainee!
What a great decision that phone call turned out to be. You can teach an old dog new tricks, after all
Good luck Stu, I know that working for you will be a great experience for the right person. Just pick the right person. Listen to the voices in your head if they say "no, not him/her". Listen to them also if they say "How about giving 'X' a call?"

That sounds like an excellent opportunity for someone to get there head down, listen and learn and become a well known and respected name in the automotive tuning industry
Hope you find the right applicant for the position Stu.
Relocation package?

Wish I lived closer to Blackpool. I'd take minimum wage at the drop of a hat if it meant working at MSD and learning new skills everyday! Good luck with filling the position.
