Default what to look for on a mk5 b rs 2000

going to look at a rs 2000 tonite as my xr4x4 is having a a tidy up

so what should i be looking put for as ive never owned or looked at anything older than a mk4 escort

i know the usual thing slike rust etc round teh filler cap and bottom arms

what are they like mechanically, do they go wrong like a cvh?

the car will just be used for daily driver for a couple of months

any advice would be nice thanks

the sills inners and outer rust rather badly hidden behind the body kit,battery tray also and can suffer with electrical problems from the fuse box which stops them starting up!

head gaskets go

engine mounts too,

have a good look under neath for rotten floor

coil packs go but will be very easy to spot

fuse baoxes just for rs 2000 or do other escorts have them

is it as long as its the same code it will work i take it?

will check sills and batt tray aswell

mainly mechanical stuff im interested in as i need it to be reliable

i just want to buy a car and use it and not repair every week

and this has come up at a price i carnt refuse to take a look

Underrated 90's hot hatch.

Mate of mine just sold his,alternator went and it's special to the RS2K IIRC.

Fitted a 1800CVH Sierra one and it was fine.

Also check the arches,especially where they join the skirts.

Other then that,just the usual.

Shame Rich- I just fucked one off for 600 quid..

The rust like fuck mate- everywhere- if you're remotly arsed- Check check and check...

If its cheap enuff though drive it and get rid again when you need to...

well got there

and what a pile of shit

mechanically sound but there was no fuel cap the filler neck was just wobbling around

needed 2 bottom arms and the front seats were, well fukt lol

i walked away

but just had a txt off my mate saying someone has bought it

good luck to them as it was too much for me with teh cossie conversion to do on my sierra
