Legal Status

Hedgehogs are partly protected under Schedule 6 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act (1981). It is illegal to trap or kill them without a licence.

You were fooking stupid to risk your life over a hedgehog......ok saying your life may have been overboard...but then again was it? seeing todays youth.

Well done though...but in future arm yourself just incase...people have been killed over less!

I personally would not have intervened if it was a puppy then deffo...i guess we all got different feelings towards different types of animals...Please dont think i condone the behaviour,i dont, but you have to sometimes step back and calculate the risk!

Just a quick update, baby hedgehog just woken up and ran around the kitchen like a lunatic, he thinks my labrador is his mum now, all being well the hedgehog will be going to a santuary for the winter then released into a protected wood in the spring, will keep everyone updated. Many thanks for the kind words spoken, nice too know so many people agree with my actions.

Problem was I still had no idea what the " object " was, after another 5-7 mins the object was placed ontop of a parked cars roof, then it struck me, the " object " was a baby hedgehog, I went outside to the youths, pushed one of them away from the car and picked up the hedgehog and took it home. I telephoned the RSPCA and explained what had happened, the lady said I was either foolhardy or brave to approach a group of youths and take the hedgehog away, I do not agree, all i did was stop them hurting this tiny creature. The hedgehog survived the night has eaten well and drank some water, its small though and fits into the palm of my hand, later today it goes off to a hedgehog rescue centre, will be looked after untill big enough to be released.
Top to you mate!!

Saw some little sh*ts the other day using a stray dog as a target for thier football, luckily the dog was able to run off, but makes you wonder of the mentality of kids nowadays..

Another err unique post by IMA We all know its a risk to intervene where a group is concerned. Because it was hedgehog you wouldnt bother but then you would over a puppy? Why its a puppy? Some wouldnt even bother with a puppy or a horse or an elephant Nice one though soulweavers

Good work mate!

Ive read this out to my girlfirend and it bought a tear to her eye as "hoglets" (baby hedgehog term) are her favourite. She recently saved 2 and they are at a rescue centre, almost ready for release. Problem is its 30 miles away and she wants em back !!! LOL.

What is wrong with the youth of today??? tossers

I would have taken my toy with me, got the hedge hog... they wouldn't have argued with me when I pulled out what I back from spain.

Hate people abusing animals, I mean if it was some wolf or summink that could rip your head off, but a hedgehog?!?!?!?!?!

I mean do these people have absolutley 0 understanding of the suffering they cause?

Well proud mate, good on you!!!!!

Was charged with assualt once after i drove past a guy who was swinging a dog round on its lead cause it wouldn't sit for him. It was the guy who ended up swinging.

Got off with it as a witness explained in court about what the guy was doing to the dog - RESULT
