Default Advice from ICE experts.

In my F-Car (sorry if this annoys people when i mention ferrari i dont wish to rub anyones nose in it,beleive me you wouldnt want an older one )

...ok got that over with,i want to upgrade the shitty sound system although it has a hi end alpine radio cassette it sounds pony ..i have got a wicked alpine head unit which has a 4 x 60watt max power output.....now i cant go subwoofer or amps..all i have got is 2 x door speakers i beleive around 6 inch round with 2 x tweaters on the dash (ferrari install)...now i want alpine speakers in there what is the best to go for to get the best sound and do i need seperate tweeters?...I could put a pair of 6 x 9's on the rear shelf although i could only mount them in the pods and put them so the headrests block there view..although i am thinking it might look shite...any ideas guys,i know the engine noise is the ICE but i want some ICE T playing

Phil

Ideally you want something of quality.... get a set of Dynaudios.

Yes you need seperate tweeters it helps set the sound stage.

Why cant you run an Amp ? Nowhere to put it ?

seen a few 348 with the 6x9s behind the headrests on the shelf bit, some well 2 really shocking, 1 looking almost factory, its a def take your time job, as you could end up really spoiling the looks

but you right the standard systems poo, well the speakers are!

you got a pipe for it yet?

...Fil yep got a sports exhaust with decat pipes and k&n replacement panel filter and remap...should be 500bhp now

Neil yes there is room for a small amp but the head unit is 240watt max power...i think that would be enuff to power the 4 speaker set up that fast ford uk suggested?

Put the money in to a pair of really decent speakers rather than numbers of speakers.

Been there made that mistake...

my last set up was an Alpine 3566 Amp, 6 channels bridged to 3 channel.

1 Alpine sub in a band pass box and a pair of DynAudio woofer / Tweeter combos.

Sound was awesome.

Default cool

alpine 6/5" x type components sound the nuts,

have these powered with a small alpine v12 amp for depth.

also these are not bad to add a bit more bass

personally i wouldn't bother with 6x9 too chav for me.

is there nowhere at all you can mount an amp?

TBH Focal do some really shit hot front components ( with separate tweeters, and a crossover) where you wouldnt need any other speakers 6x9s etc to get a really decent bassy sound, theyre about £700 a set though, but the sound from just a set of components is second to none.

Ive got a decent amp and competition sub, and the sound quality of the Focals amped was much better than mine ( and cost the same price, but only take up 2 doorcards)

As above I have a set of Focal Kevlar components in mine amped up using a Genesis Stereo 100 amp and it sounds superb!! I would go that route, perhaps run the rear 6x9's direct off the head unit and amp up the fronts and setting the stereo so most of the noise is from the front.

I think the problem with the 348 is the doors aren't very deep so the choice of drivers is limited.

When my friend had one he was gonna put some subs behind the seats. There was just about enough room to make a very shallow box with enough volume for a couple of small subs. He never got round to making it though so dont really know of it would work.

Focal do a decent range of slimline components though, but dont compromise on sound quality, imo it doesnt matter how LOUD a stereo is, the sound quality has gotta be a1 or its pointless

plus if Phil can afford a Ferrari he shouldnt be using Alpine speakers, he should be using something much more upmarket

Similar setup to what I had in my ZR160, set of focal components up front driven by a Genesis Profile 4 amp, pair of Infinity 10" subs in the rear drievn by a Genesis Profile Sub amp. All run through an Alpine sound processor. Very clean high quality sound and solid bass for not a lot of kit.
