I agree get an American Bulldog and it will maul you

Why is that then ?

They are known for being very loyal but not over agressive and are always alert. They are also very well known for being excellent with children.

listen you dumb fucking prick i said in the begining of the thread that if your a dumb prick who's gonna talk shat, to fuck of and keep your undereducated comments to yourself. If you have to stick your dimwit comments somewhere make sure you READ the thread properly,

i dont have to justify myself to an idiot like you but some people need educating so im going to help.... It clearly says i want him to keep a watchful eye on strangers rather than just walk past trusting them, also that he's nervous in some situatons, if you didn't have shit for brains you would have understood that a nervous dog is probably more dangerous than a syco dog because he is unpredictable so before you butt into a coversation you know shit all about think a bit more carefuly, it might help you get further in life.

YOU DONT FUCKING KNOW ME but yet your comments seem like you know everything. i KNOW you wouldn't talk to me like that in person, only on forums so...

Its thick misinformed fuckers like you that make my everyday a little bit harder just like the thick fucking builders i need to use everyday.

As for calling me a chav, get your facts straight about me then call me something. i know your going to reply with a retaliation so im going to save you the trouble and tell you to keep it to yourself.

You've fucking offened me and now im fucked off. Where do you live? i want you to see what i do daily for a living so that you can put your childish name calling on hold and comment after that.

never has someone spoke to me so rudley but when your on a forum with all sorts of people i can't expect anything less.

i really hope your not such a moran like you've portrayed to me cause i cant see you getting very far with a pikey additude like that.

Please let me clarify something for everyone who thinks im a scewed up person trying to train a rottie to behave like a wild tiger... I dont train him to be aggressive and dont want him to be stupidly aggresive. i was asking if my pup will change because all the ADULT rotts i've been around are not mad but keep watchful eyes on people passing very close to them and owner. I have read that if rotts dont have certain charicteristcs they can not be called a rottweiler my heart, same with most pedigree dogs.

why some of you are so hot and bothered and quick to talk shit is beyond my knowledge. So please no more unfair quick to judge posts.

Bosch man you seem to know a fair bit about them and have owned a few. i need someone with your experience to just let us know if your pups changed in anway when they got older.

Also i'll add that the dog is not mistreated in anyway and gets lots of love from me my sisters mum and dad. everyone loves him to bits and cant imagine what it would be like without him.

sometimes feel like they care about the dog more than me

He's still just a puppy mate. All he wants to do is play. You'll just have to wait and see what he turns into when he grows. I don't think there's anyway to train him to be watchful etc. he'll either do it or he wont.

Chances are when he's older he will naturally be protective of his owner. It's what they do and it's animal instinct. To the dog you're it's pack leader, therefore it will protect you no matter what.

thanks mate, i just wanted normal civilised replys like yours.

hope i dont sound like a mad man but after i posted this i had to drive up to coventry, for a five minute job and drive back to london to find a rather unhelpful provocative reply. just drives me up the wall. The dog thing seems all irrelivent now i've been so wound up

my lil rottie doesn't do a few things i would like him to do cause i bought him for protection and family doggy.

He doesn't bark when someone knocks on the door, he used to when really little but not anymore, he just gets exited
would prefer it if he did bark

He's not very observent when out walking... normally take him out at about 12midnight, he watches people coming towards us but when they get close he totaly loses interest as if they no longer pose a threat.

now look i dont want a mad rottie but i've been around other rotts and they are very observant of public and strangers, always keeping a firm eye on that person without pulling towards them until the "threat" has gone.

one more thing, once a few girls from down my road saw me walking him and wanted to come over and stroke him, when they did he started to get nervous he dosent get beaten up by anyone, just a slap on the thigh or on the muzzle or ear, no excesive slaps, one or two and not hard.

he does play fight with me and he has heart even when he gets over powered by me, he comes back for more.....

This has been playing on my mind for ages so i had to ask for advice.

am i being to harsh on the lil fella and should i wait for him to get older or is he a big softy and always will be

HELP!

Sorry mate, but training a dog like that to be "wary of a threat" might come back to haunt you, unfortunatly a small child who is noisy and running round might well be percived as a "threat", and end up in a grizzly mess like one of the NUMEROUS cases recently, I think its been 4 in the last 6 months that have been worthy of the national news??

I just think it seems a shame to wreck what seems to be a nice dogs temprement? If you are genuinly in trouble 99% of dogs know what to do, they ain't daft.....

I would listen very carefully to boschman on this, as even though he has no taste in cars he does seem to know his rotties very well, and if he says don't try and make your dog aggressive I would listen to him.

Last thing you want mate is to loose your dog becasue he mauls the postman or some innocent victim as you have trained him to hate everyone that looks a bit sus...

yeah alright then mate, you seem to have highlighted the things that may look like i want a mad dog but not the obvious positive things i want him to do, you should work for a tabliod newspaper cause snake type people are good journos and can wreck a persons image.

If you thought for yourself you may realise that the media isn't the best source of solid accurate information and infact there are more labrador, yorkies bites on kids in the home than rottweiler attacks Dog attacks are the thing to talk about these days, you think they only started to go up recently, huh, its been going on for fucking years but as i said before its the thing to talk about and journos would have a better chance of selling thier pics, words to newspapers if its about a mad dog attack.... At the end of the day no matter what the job its all about money so dont think journolists find it in their kind hearts to dos around the world into dangerous situations because they want us the viewers to be properly informed

i know what you mean you want him to be alet and always on gaurd and also reliable round the family.

it should cum with age mate he is still a little babay in a large mean looking body.

my current dogs just passed 1year old and is now very alert and very protective but only the past month.

ive never tryed to get him angry and id never try and break him!!!!

remember there pack animals its all in there blood to be aggressive.

i dont know anyone whod take an unknown adult rotty on in a fight do you?

ps any pics of the pup mate?

My late Sammy (pedigree german shepherd) was a nut case with strangers, but the calmest most loving dog in the world with family. If anyone went near the gate he's be up barking his nuts off. People would shit it and cross the road. Saw him catch a few people by surprise and they absolutely shit themselves!

But if you brought someone into the garden and introduced them to him he'd be fine. He would at first get round them and check them out thoroughly, but then he'd be fine.

Proper guard dog.

Remember walking him one time though and he jumped up at some pensioner
