Getting SECS Friday
Yep Simon told me on the phone i'd get it FRIDAY.
This is crucial to my specification as it will enable 8 injectors instead of going for the 4 big un route on L8.
I am confident he will deliver....do you think he will?

Why you no listen - are you mad?
Explain pleeeease why you must have 8 injectors (WRC style I take it?)

Doug,
You're thinking like a plonka
.
KEEP your RS500 plenum, put four yellows in the usual place and four 1000cc ones in the back of the plenum. In normal running it has the fuel economy of a standard car, then at the point the yellows run out of injector time, phase in the 1000cc ones until you are only running these for hard use. You then have the four injector reliability (apart from the phase over point, but you would soon notice if an injector had failed as at full boost it would only run on three and at low speed it would only run on three. The SECS can run different types of injector AND the phase in can be done at any point and any split

Mark,
The fact that some power may be gained by moving the bigger injectors to the back of the plenum for high speed use and then better atomisation for low speed use of the smaller injectors...

Mike I havent done a back to back on moving Injectors to rear of plenum but Rods engine doesnt have a problem with Either Power or Mpg,
I have mapped engines with WRC inlet and standard fuel Inj position and there is no benafit other than Selling 8inj and WRC inlet
the clever person keeps his money in his pocket

*Awaiting droll comments about Stu and Phil both having SECS on Friday*

Phil - FFS why not just stop acting the twat and CONSTANTLY posting about it? Give the man a break rather than constantly trying to ridicule the guy
Getting really boring now fella

The SECS S8 ecu will NOT drive an injector unless it detects a resistance just before a pulse is sent to it.
So provided the intermittent problem is electrical then 99% of faults
like this can be safely detected.
A fault code will be registered and that whole faulty cylinder will be
shut down to prevent such a situation arising.
Motec does this too, dont know about Autronic or Pectel T2/T6 but Weber
ecus do NOT.
Non electrical faults such as low fuel pressure/block injector are a little
harder to detect unless the failure significantly upsets fuel flow
causing a lambda sensor lean condition but then lambda sensors
only read the average of ALL cylinders.

This ones for you Mart..
So fuel pressure prob is same outcome which leaves blocked injector being the only higher risk of 8 vs 4. I would try 8 to see if you could get more power but mikes wife's tales are always wrong so probably not worth it LOL
In my head even with closed loop lambda I still feel smaller injectors can only be better for low speed running etc - whether its worth it on a tuned engine etc who knows for its purpose etc
I have 8 as they injectors were free and not had a problem in the past.

8 injectors are used for 3 reasons......
1) BLING EFFECT
2) 8 LOW FLOW CHEAP INJECTORS CAN BE USED AS EARLY SHONKY SOFTWARE
COULD NOT DRIVE GREYS PROPERLY .
3) USING EXTRA 4 INJECTORS GIVES BETTER MIXTURE FORMATION DUE TO MORE TIME TO
MIX WITH AIR AS IT IS FURTHER AWAY FROM THE CYLINDER.
THIS DOES GIVE A SLIGHT INCREASE IN BHP (perhaps 5-8 BHP in 500 BHP)
The disadvantages.....
More cost, more electronics, more wiring, more software, more fuel lines and less space under the bonnet.
I personally prefer the BIG 4 route but, 8 injectors are just as effective if set up
properly.
