The SECS S8 ecu will NOT drive an injector unless it detects a resistance just before a pulse is sent to it.
So provided the intermittent problem is electrical then 99% of faults
like this can be safely detected.
A fault code will be registered and that whole faulty cylinder will be
shut down to prevent such a situation arising.
Motec does this too, dont know about Autronic or Pectel T2/T6 but Weber
ecus do NOT.
Non electrical faults such as low fuel pressure/block injector are a little
harder to detect unless the failure significantly upsets fuel flow
causing a lambda sensor lean condition but then lambda sensors
only read the average of ALL cylinders.
