I do love the particularly scientific comment "any faster and you would have taken off!"

I just love this sort of comment - it gives the Police a real sense of duh! (I bet they believe that your head expodes if you go over 30mph on a train too!)

Not condoning that sort of speed on the road though! Why cant they just say - it was too fast for the roads!

Madness!

A guy George McLean from inverness had the record in a Porsche 911 turbo from about '92 to 2002 @ 155MPH on the A9

Then a guy from aberdeen, Mr McAllister got caught between aberdeen and dundee doing 156MPH (Uninsured!!!) in a BMW M3

looks like the record has gone south of the border again @172 in oxfordshire!! .........Calling all you scottish super-cossie drivers....we better get the record back.....Any takers??????

I believe the term used is "speed doesn't kill, its suddenly becoming stationary that gets you"

Hi matey! Sorry for the late retort! I am travelling today a lot, and am currently in the IOM!!! (Isle of Man to you mainland folk!)

Very cool here - dont want to go home. I have driven down the 'mountain pass' road in the hire car that now feels a little abused (sorry avis!)

IT was great! National speed limit over here means "go as fast as you like!" Could get used to it!!

Bikers have been know to loose the helicopter, Anything over 190mph has the possibility to outrun a helicopter as far I'm aware mate.

the helicopter thats used around newcastle/sunderland area is flat out at 135mph, so technically a cossie could outrun it!!

of course the cossie would blow up or run out of fuel first, but its technically possible

heathrow airport if you get done on or near the M40 area my neighbour sugests,,,,, but that lucky cunt has a race prepared R1 and a blackbird " runabout",,,,, not sure ill be so lucky in a 1.25 zetec S fiesta

must admit when i read these newspapers it DOES scare me a little and the speeds we all do ALOT and think fuck all about it,,, 145 for 12mins on a run on the M6,,,,, i average 130 to 135 topping 140 everytime i hit the M25/M11,,,,, and i dont just mean after 10pm too

not to mention when i used to do the M25 run at work and averaged 105mph in the transit and got back 2 to 3 hours early ,,,, the record for getting back though was 145,,,,,, wich is good considering i was ment to be just getting to staines at that time,,,,, not islington in central london but i did tell them that when the schools are off theres less traffic about
