Worth a pm to Dave or one of the other mag guys, i know it was a big deal when euan got the T4 top speed think that had a lot to do with him joining the 180+ group but they might be upfor it as the T38 is still a popular turbo. Like i said before though think YUM's 178 will be hard to beat.

Mines ran on optimax and no NOS.

I have 2wd T4 record, not sure about overall T4 without NOS tho?

Its more complex than that- Nitrous is a Fuel & according to you lot is in a different catorgory, so 102ron is in another catagory & then I guess you have 106, 109 & 118 all of which make Power so who holds the t38 106ron off Nitrous record, just interested thats all & is it quicker than the t34 on Nitous, Optimax record. It will need someone full time to keep abreast of these stats . There was me thinking the Topspeed record was held by the car that went the f***ing fastest, how wrong can I be.

although running on different fuels etc may not be an option for some people because of the intended use of the car,cost of remaps etc...so i suppose it levels the field a bit...

Lee Catermole (B16 BHP) Is on his rev limiter in 5th at 175(ish) mph from standing start in 0.7miles so he wont crack the 180 no matter how much power he has. His car is built for 1/4mile, hence the gearing.

Sorry to say you are completely wrong there NOS, is NOT a fuel.

NOS is oxygen and nitrogen in a chemical gaseous bond.
It does NOT have the ability to burn by itself or with extra oxygen.

You ALWAYS need extra fuel to match the AFR with the NOS quantity used.

It's not complex at all! Build any shonky engine and you could almost double the power with NOS but add race fuel (be it 102, 109 etc etc) to that same engine and the results are no where near the same!

I use 106rte on Rods but this is no longer made,
Ade was 109 Sunco I dont think on a Cossie this is any better than 102TC,
We are trying diff fuel next they engines are being tailord to race fuel so the gains will be bigger , On yours as low comp the race fuel wont make any diff other than cost more.

I would rather use race fuel for top speed runs mainly for safety and the fact that the quality is consistant, but most of my old runs are on SUL. On the street I only use pump fuel.

woah what a can of worms that one opened up! didnt really think about the different fuels and nos
but surely a record is a record irrelevent of whether its on or off nos.i was just thinking of the power supplied by the turbo,if it has a boost from nos then it doesnt matter,you take top honours full stop.

Believe it, it’s true BUT you should know the car used was a Mondeo which is quite aerodynamic… You haven’t heard the last of that car!!

As Rod has pointed out high levels of Nos does not work well on topspeed runs as the bottle looses pressure/power after about 10secs on it, So you end up using the Nos as a kick up the arse to shorten the distance needed to get there,
However this changes with the push system Rod is now using as there is no let up in power/Nos at all .
