Of course it is, it's 140mm wider and 15mm deeper .

Also Warren's 180 is with only 500bhp on a shonky T4 (T4s ROCK ).

Martin,
Don't get confused with the peak rpm, this was only reached in 1st 2nd, 3rd and 4th, as with 3.36 gearing and 235/40x17 tyres, I only ever saw around 7k in fifth.
what mods have to be done to the car to fit it in? 7 cm's either side is quite a bit
Nothing on an Escort, other than the slimline fans so everything fits (not an issue on a Sierra), but not sure if the extra width would go in a Sierra?

Dave,
Your car was dynoed at 466bhp, I think Warren's was dynoed at 507bhp, so had similar installation losses to you and would have to be retarded in the same way to suit the 3" exhaust . And Warren didn't quite go to the same lengths as you did .

At that kind of speed, that 1.2mph difference would be the power difference between the two - just ask Rod how much extra you need to go each 1mph above 175 .

But YUM will now get to the 190 mark when up and running
I think if Mark hadn't have knocked 4 degrees out of the timing, your engine would have been spread across the track , Mark wouldn't have done it for no reason , as he knows the effect of retard .

As to hitting 190 with the new engine - I don't doubt that for a minute .

l sold Rod my Turbo so not jelous at all

Want a better down the rev range punch

And simon, you didnt say how your lessons are going
I wonder if Rod will still be such an arrogant cunt when you acheive a slower speed than him (I would fucking love it if you or anyone else went quicker!). He seems to enjoy belittling everyone else when they post there speeds etc!!,i.e.

Mad Yum,

I have just done 19x.xxmph at brunters today. Blah blah blah.....

Random Forum user,

When done mate, great acheivement. Blah blah blah.....

Small Man,

Thats rubbish, my car does over 200mph. In xxx amount of space I hit 19x.xxmph. You will need another xxbhp before you can do it properly. Basically your fucking shit and I am the best . I am a winner, your a loser and fucking jelous!!

because if your tyre was a 215, then the aspect ratio of 40 makes the rolling circumference larger

why the fook is everone so interested in topspeed? spend thousands on an engine to fookin drive it flat out up a runway and risk blowing it up ...boring as fook i attended two topspeed runs with my escort..it toped at 178mph due to a misfire...no excuses but was pulling 165mph by the half mile mark tthat day probably cost me between Ł750 to a grand for fuel /travelling loss of earnings...thank fook i,m away from it now

and NO i dont miss my escort one bit

Mike glad your new intercooler works but everyone else seems to get more power than you using a shonky rs500 intercooler as you call them,Perhaps it's not the intercooler that is causing your charge air issues perhaps it is all the hot air you are talking in the dyno cell

I can see the attraction but for me a good all round car is where it's at and if the said car happens to deliver a decent top end then that’s a bonus... not a requirement

RS500 intercoolers may be shonkey but my Escort still did 194.7 using one ...

yep thats fairenough martin .....but recently alot of post i,v been reading so many people seem to be obsessed by topspeed runs......

i bought your old engine and dropped it in a virtually standard 3door and did a topspeed run...183 mph....the car wasnt any use for fook all else other than going fast in a straight line though .......boring

PS..isnt it about time you beat my 1/4 mile time

Obsession is the word Do I want to know how fast my Escort will go? Hell yes but I have more important things to fill my time with other than trying to gain the last mph from it!

Don't worry about your 1/4 mile it's safe for the next month or so...

is harder than it looks.

every 1mph over 180 is even harder.

everyone thinks its as easy as turning up with a car running X amount of BHP and away you go.

For a high top speed to be hit and the car to stay reliable it takes alot of effort and testing

go for it BUD

you will be beter of with a bigger turbo tho

High performance cosworths to no performance suzuki
next thing you know you will be buying a caravan for yourself instead of buying them to sell
