? if a standard cos crank and rods are resonably reliable to 600bhp,will a shotpeen and polish increase the level of bhp you can run? or just make them more reliable at 600bhp?

Hi! We have many engines here in Sweden running with standard, shotpeened rods and ARP bolts at 600 bhp without problems. Many people are changing rods, but they are not running more than 500bhp. If you`re not after a longer rod i don`t understand why, really. It seems like a trend to change rods just because they exist, or so you can tell your friend that you have "this" aftermarket rods. That,s how it is here in Sweden, anyway. All former Gr.A-cars worked good with standard rods, so why shouldnt`it work now?

Yes, of course the parts should be fresh, but i haven`t heard of anyone here breaking a rod with up to 600 bhp, but of course if you want to be extra safe and build an engine that you maybe want to take further up in power it`s best to change them.

isnt the cossie bottom end alread fully steel
shot peening will help the rodsa as it will relieve the stress they have had on them
i know a local motorsport comapny that can help aswell, thats all they do is machine work, from porting to full balancing
on all types of engines
if you want some details pm me and ill give them to you
you can go down and have a chat first aswell, and see some of there work they have on,

yeah cossie bottom end is all steel.
the standard stuff is very very good.
i have no probs with mine at my current level.
the rods have been shot peened and matched to the pistons, basically all 4 pistons and rods weigh the exact same when together.
car revs well and sounds strong even at 8K.
