Default Oil filter change on a V6 Mondeo

Hi all,

was wondering if anyone can give me pointers on changing the filter on my Mondeo?? have never done it and she's due for an oil change and I don't have a manual I know I could just go buy a manual but thought I would ask on here first.
Thanks in advance for any help

turn it anti-clockwise, iirc it's on the front of the engine so if you crawl under the front you should be able to see it.

screw a new one on making sure the old seal from the old filter isn't still attached, then clear up the mess you just made as the oil runs all over the exhaust on those v6's and will smoke like no tomorrow if left.

Its also worth greasing the rubber seal on the new filter, its makes it so much easier to get off next time.
An oil filter wrench is a good buy aswell, just incase the old one is on tight

Am not planning on doing it again I'm sure there will be a wrench in the garage as my other half fixes cars a lot, I will ask if he has one. I'll use the greas as well though, makes it easier for the next person to do it doesn't it? thanks muchly for the advice, here goes nothing hehe.

The other thing that can cause grief is loosening the drain plug in the sump which i'm assuming you'll be doing at the same time.

The plugs are generally soft as shite so if possible use a six sided socket as this will be less likely to round it off than a multi-point socket/spanner.

Again the oil comes out and goes right over the exhaust and creates more mess

Yes, sump plug will be out as it will be be a complete oil change, done 130,000 miles and is starting to sound very tappity, hoping thicker oil will give me a bit of respite before I have to get the tappits done (24 Valve!!), no worse stink than oil on exhaust is there??
Thanks muchly

Its ok though, I'm not afraid of a bit of muck and grease, although as I recently topped up my oil this is going to be a lot of muck and grease lol

May I just point out, (my friend just pm'd me and no wonder it rattles if you let it get to 130 with no oil change) she has had oil changes up to now but this is my first time doing it (changing the oil before all the pervs start!!) anyhow its a moot point coz my other half has said he will do it for me now
thanks for the advice though guys
