Default Bedding in Tips with New Brake Discs and Pads

Hello from sunny New Zealand.

I've just fitted a set of Tarox Sport Japan discs and Ferodo DS2500 pads all round on my 2WD Sapphire. I've kep my standard 15" rims
Now I've been put off driving my car by people saying that if I don't bed my discs and pads in correctly I'll ruin the discs and or the pads.
Can anyone help me out here as to how I go about properly bedding them in as the car is sitting in the garage just waiting for a thrashing.

Thanks in advance guys.

Ollie.

Check they actually work at all with a 2mph stop then find a nice clear road.

get to 100mph, brake to 60 (good pressure but not an emergency stop) then the following stops roughly
100 -50
100 -40
100 -30
100 -20

keep driving normally allowing to cool.

Job done.

EDIT, hope you did the fluid, makes more difference than pads/disc and often overlooked imo

As above around 5 quite high speed to not fully stopped braking runs are required thats all. This gradually builds the heat up in the pad to complete the next process.

By about the 4th you will begin to smell the resins burning off, this is quite normal so still continue on with the 5th.

Never come to a complete stop with the hot pad on the disc.

Allow everything to cool and you should be fine from then on

Cheers lads.
My mechanic told me to get up to 60kph and then brake to 10kph, he said do this 15 times without stopping. I guess he wasnt too far off what you guys have to say.
I hear its not such a good idea to replace pads and discs at the same time..
Ohh well they look good on the car

you SHOULD always change the pads when fitting new discs!

Gareth is correct, its always wiser to bed new discs in with old pads.

Not essential - but its the old school way

Actually opinions are mixed. I've seen good results with both methods.
