MP3 Headunit Laser Replacement
Anyone on here do these?
My Kenwood has recently been coming up with a TOC Error when a cd/mp3 is in the slot. Sometimes it will play a few seconds, sometimes it wil do a track or two, other times it will go straight to the error. I know that TOC is 'table of contents' and the fault is almost certainly down to the laser packing in as it does it with MP3, copied cds and new cds so it isn't the cd that isn't finalised..plus they used to play fine.
The unit is two years old and Kenwood say they cannot help as it is so far out of the warranty. Their technical dept say they can take it in and have a look then if it is definately the laser can replace it for around the £60 mark...but will take a few weeks as they have a lot of work on at the minute.
Have spoken to a local Audio company and they said it would be around the £130 cost (robbin fookers!!)
I do around 500miles a week and don't really want to be without the unit for upto a month!
Or spend money on a new headunit as it is in near-new quality (bar the fookin laser not working) !!!!!

i would go on ebay and byuy another or i got a dvd mp3 player spare i am selling not sceen type but does every type of disc £85 looks a lot like a alpine unit !!

Have had a look and there's a couple I like the look of but would have to have a proper look at spec and compare it to what I have. Appreciated tho.
