Default Stolen parts

About a year ago my garage was broken into and parts from my nova I was breaking were stolen.

For months I kept an eye on forums and local cars to see if the parts had shown up but nothing did.

Then the other day someone posted a ebay link to car for sale which just happens to have a few of my parts on it.

Now the problem is the Police are involved but as usual there not coming up with any answers quickly and the auction will end within 7 days and then I will have no chance of tracking those parts down.

I could easily pay the guy a visit (2hr drive) but tbh I very much doubt he took my parts and probably doesn't realise they were stolen.

If it was you, what would you do about it ?

Theres not really a lot you can do

Try asking the guy where he got the parts? But chances are, like you said, he probably won't even realise they were stolen.

Tony- No mate, the garage wasn't insured as it was a lockup away from house.

I wouldn't mind knowing where he actually got them from as that might be half a clue in who took them, if they are local to me that is.

Well by luck I remember taking a pic of the Sparco seats and the info sticker on them as they were taken from my Revs Escort which was bilt in 1996 but I had the seats retrimmed a few yrs ago.

Mounts were the old style steel ones then modded to fook to fit a nova, now painted yellow by the new owner.

Problem is I cant find the pic of the seats anywhere

The other parts I just know of as mine due to a few things that are missing from them still as the thieves forgot to take all the parts

If you have 100% proof that the parts are yours contact the owner for a viewing, then contact the police in his area once you have details.

Of course....speak to the police first....

If you do buy the bits, and you know they are stolen.

You are in effect receiving stolen goods. As they are yours, you may be ok.....but you could still get in bother, especially as you know they are stolen.

Make sure you have informed the police whats going on.

after you win the auction ,go to pick them up,have a good look at the parts, while not letting on you suspect they were stolen from you,and scratch your initials somewhere on them on the sly, then tell him they are marked ,and either he gives them to you,or the police will get involved, and where did he get them from? bring some big boys for support worth a try.

You can't commit an offence of receiving your own stolen goods.

I'd check that out, before getting any ideas...better safe than sorry.

Although as you say, its probably unlikely anything would ever happen.

Alps- yes mate it is.

Police are aware of it and have the item number.

I still can't find any of the pics I had of them.

Irritating as I know they are mine

Unless you have proof that they are yours they are highly unlikely to act swiftly.

Will the original Crime reference number not list the goods with descriptions ?
