hi all ford lovers.im building a black mark 4 escort xr3i to look like a cossie, so far i have built a custom spoiler which consists of an rs turbo spoiler on the bottom and a whale tail on top which i flushed into the rs turbo spoiler. i have fitted quadlights to the front and clear lights to the back, i have fitted a rs turbo body kit. i am waiting for my cosworth front and back bumpers. i replaced the standard seats with rs turbo recaro bucket seats.
Basically all i want is peoples advise and opinions

how can a mk4 escort look like a cossie ? whats wrong with the rst kit ?

i like replicas alot if they are done properly, but i cant see how you can make a replica of what never existed.

I saw an RST with a roof scoop the other day....i'm no mechanic....but surely that's pointless with it being a front engined car? In theory, the wind resistance actually slows the car down?

did you just say a roof scoop keeps the wheels stuck to the road? oh dear. and it WONT be one of a kind,your about 15 years too late for that,there have been countless mk4s with cossie kits attached to them,usually it looks crap though.

 

Years back there was a company that done an Illusion bodykit. I'll see if I can dig out some pics

it was a lad in nuneaton who built it about 7 years ago

was genuine rst aswell, went well for well for what it was but nothing special

i did see it last yeah hiding ina corner of a garage so i knwo its still around

and al was done properly and did look quite good,

but to your question smead

why would you blend a whale tail in witha rst spoiler i dont know,

are you tring to mimick the xr4i tail fin just it will be bigger

I think they look gash for the amount of time and money that needs to go into them.

As said, each to there own, but i would look at modding your car in other ways. Give it a hard stance and maybe kit it, but try not to stick to an attempted replica of a cosy. The MK4 is to small and the kit makes them look like someone has driven through halfords with there car covered in glue and hoped for the best.

A tastefully done, one off mods MK4 can still be the nuts.

I think you may get some ribbing on this post, but if you have your heart set on it and it makes you happy, then that's all that counts.

there was a car in Performance Ford from the Gatebil show in norway that was running full escort cosworth bodykit and whaletail and tbh it looked ok (maybe because the rear bumper and front bumper were off but hey )

if its going to b on the road dont do it because it will spoil the looks of the Mk4 far too easily. Stick to an RST kit or Buy a MK5 escort

it was well wide..had 19s and spacers and still the wheels didnt reach the edge lol..shame it was only 1.6 hahaha i was gonna buy it and turbo it but bought the purple machine instead

i think that actually looks alright, like a serious power rst. whale tails look shit on em though, big curvy spoiler on a small square car wrc cossie spoiler looks way better on mk4s
