Default Interview tips - put em in here!

As above, do/don't etc...

Also be good to hear from people who are interviewers within their job, what impresses you?

Above all - Dont lie!

I was talkin to a mate today, who was interviewing for a van drivers job.

Nothing special, probably minimum wage.

One guy was a graduate, just finished his degree. Obviously looking for a stop gap.

He says " i always realy wanted to be a van driver!"

Does he think we're stupid?!

Above all - Lie !!!!

lol, not blatantly like above but its the easiest thing in the world to tell someone what they want to hear. simply adapt your lying to whatever role youre applying for

*Edit* do some background research on the company youre applying for and let the interviewer know youve done some homework

If you want to impress try saying in a stern voice:

" Do you want to fill this fucking position or what ! "

look the person whose interviewing you in the eye, dont stare them out tho.
be confident but not overconfident, sit up straight dont fiddle as they will be looking at your body language.

I did this once, I went for an interview on a monday morning, and on the sunday my dad spotted a piece in the sunday paper business section, that said the company were subject to a takeover bid.

So I asked "is this likely to affect the position?"

Seemed like a reasonable question to me.

The interviewer went nuts! He threw his pen at the desk, lept out of his chair and went on a 10 minute rant about press speculation and how damaging it is to a business, and how totally unfounded it all was.

Needless to say, i didnt get the job, and 2 weeks later the company was re-named!

Choose your questions carefully!

take each interview differently, apply your answers to the job you are there for,if its a bin man dont go talking about your 12 degrees and polo club membership becasue they will think you will get bored in the job and move on. make sure you know what the job is,get background information on what the company does, and what the job will entail, then base any answers around that, you need to seem fairly knowledgable of what you will be doing.
