Default 2.0 bottom end on N/A CVH

Hi,

Im new to the site.

Just wondering if there would be any advantages of a 2.0 Zetec bottom end on a modified n/a rs1600i engine on carbs. Assuming the standard bottom end will cope would there be any advantages of the zetec?

Cheers, James.

Why go to all that hassle of bolting in the zetec bottom end and then bolt an 8 valve head on it?

Just go with a full zetec engine. The power will come a lot easier.

probably because its easier and cheaper if he already has a modified head and carbs! the bottome end should make it more torquey and itll produce more power for very little money mate, deffo a good idea IMO. think youll need a 1.8 zetec sump on there tho.

in actual fact, if hes got a worked head, cam and carbs, hed be better off selling them on ebay, and using the rest to buya full zetec engine and tune that.

can get a decent 2.0 lump, with loom and ecu for 100-200 quid. the 1.8 bits for Ł50 or so. and youve got 135bhp and decent torque on a reliable std engine.

people think its cheaper going ZVH but its not most anymore. by the time youve bought the bottom end, the zvh conversion kit and all the bollocks that goes with it, its cheaper to just buy a full zetec these days.

Good to be different really, the 8v head has got be more torque im guessing aswell.

How much power does anyone know would the 2.0 bottom end add when put on a standard 1.6 top end? Just so I can do some rough math.

Cheers.

exactly. what would those aftermarket parts cost? depending on if you bought stuff new or 2nd hand theres 500-1200 quids worth of gear there, for 5-10bhp less, shit drivebility and it probably used twice as much fuel as a 2.0 zetec would...makes no sense at all these days with zetecs so cheap.
