Pectel hardware equipped P8 cannot be live mapped with Pectel software.

Stu, your company mapped it before and infact you fitted something to it, I think it was a collins piggyback board or something ?

Evolution Chip Serial Number 2598

and you charged for a mapping session ? cheers Glen

What has that to do with Pectel software exactly?

On 22/6/2004 a Mr Von Grover came here with a faulty Escort that turned out to be due to a chip mapped for the wrong injectors so as a solution he was charged £150 for a plug in chip that worked correctly. If i recally correctly his board was faulty to so we supplied a daugterboard as our chips need the Ford board normally and he didnt have one so this was his only solution available. More interestingly though, it was plugged into a L8 on this vehicle and not a P8

You will find i charge £500+ to map, so he was NOT charged for a mapping session at all.

Has teh ecu been changed then then?

ok cool thats good to know thanks, wasnt being cheeky, Ive got the bill here it was £400

I was going on what the seller had told me, it hasnt been changed since you sorted it out.

So its on L8 ecu with a plug in Board,

can you tell me stu, this is not mappable then ? how would you work round the problem of Possible different compression ratio with me fitting my new engine ?

This may of course all be a waste of time, as I have found a letter in my service history stating that the old engine was infact STANDARD compression, and the one im putting in is standard compression, but again who bloody knows, its like a guessing game this haha.

appreciate your advice.

P.s £500+ for mapping !!!

I was 200 quid for a full days mapping on my Evo running Autronics ?!

Have a go on the lottery you have more chance of winning that than being lent the mapping software

I cant understand why you mention the bill being £400?
You didnt mention that in the £391 price that the intake manifold was removed and a cometic fitted (not a nice job on an esccos) or that it had a full setup session and a new set of plugs, not to mention a pectel diagnostic datalogging session out on the road yet all these are itemised on your bill. Yes you guessed it, i have the bill here too..

Anyway. To answer your question.
1) All level 8s have a board fitted, as standard. The encryption method of YOUR board dictates what software you can use.

2) All marelli ecu can be mapped by us, and all of them can be mapped "Live" by us, note the 2 are NOT even close to the same thing.

Aside from the fact Autronic was designed to be easy to map and can be done by anyone with a laptop, and the fact it can map its fuel itself, my prices are only expensive if you cant afford them Glen.

if you actualy had a insight into live mapping l8 which i have cheeRS stu you would not even argue about the price infact you would expect it to be around 1k not 500 it is a very long and tedious job and FOOKING hard aswell have you ever tried using a laoptop on the move in a car with hard suspension its fookin shit

500 notes is cheap to map a Marelli equipped car IMO.

Im afraid i came back from my holiday in France on Thursday morning to 4 cars per day to do and over 450 E-Mails, not to mention the full quota of 100Pm's here on PF. I will get them all answered in the end, but for a more timely response, feel free to call me.

Ranj,
Not that im aware of although i stand to be corrected.

I wish it was possible to map 4 cars in a day. Its only barely possible to do 1 correctly and most take more than 1 day

There is no need to be afraid to use a lower comp engine on the same chip (mapped for higher compression)... because this will make it safer (not faster)... you only need to adjust the ignitionretard again in the map..

Yes but not the other way round which is what the situation looks like it could be (ie. running a low comp chip & then using that in std. or higher comp ratio engine).

cheers stu, nothing in my mail box @ bbigman2000@yahoo.co.uk

il be patient sometimes yahoo is slow at sending and delivering

turbinator, thanks for that buddy, as Ian kindly says though it is POSSIBLE that the compression ratios are same, I just dont know ive found a letter from long Buckby motors stating that the engine currently in it is standard BUT there is others telling me that it has low comp pistons in it.

the new engine is on standard compression !

So its a guessing game, I think Im gonna take it to stu and get it sorted out properly anyway despite the hassle and time its gonna take to get it there

regards Glen

Wasnt very exciting, just confirming that date is ok.
maybe call me after 4 and we can figure out what you need and what the necessity is that i personally have the car, as for just a greens std comp setup i can just post you whats required but you do need a std Ford daughterboard.
