Tyres are Ł600 per race if you want to do it properly.
Fuel is Ł200 per meeting, so there is Ł800 per race meeting before all the race fees and the car etc.
Thats the best part of 10K per year just on tyres and fuel....
Better get your sponsors out.....

Andy gallacher, chris, steve scott & stewart whyte were all running between 550 & 650 bhp so you would need a real good engine to be up there with them never mind the fuel costs tyre costs & traveling & accomidation for the crew you take..the list is endless

Xr2/3 is cheaper, but again as mentioned by others, travelling and accomodation is quite an expense too....

to go out and compete with the top level folk would cost a fortune.but if you wanted to go out and have fun im sure it wouldnt be a fraction of the cost of the top runners.still fooking expensive tho

Surely you get at least 2 before they are off the pace and probably 3-4 if you really wanted to use them. Maybe more in a lighter car!
You need a National B license to compete. Was about Ł300 when I did mine but that was 6 years ago.
You could go racing on a sensible budget. Everyone is talking what Steve spends, but Cossiecrew says compete in it, not try and win it! Remember what your mum used to tell you 'its not the winning, its the taking part'
My dad used to say 'second place is the first loser though'
99% sure I will be racing against Steve this year... but not in the Ford Championship

I do catch your drift Porkster, just putting acress worse case scenario so at least people are aware of maximum costs.
It can be done cheaper, but even if you dont count the tyres and fuel, travelling, accomodation, food, fees, insurance, car upkeep, etc still soon adds up.
Jolly good fun though.
Racing against Steve hey Porks??????

them costs given are surely to compete at the top level in that championship, the series does cater for other less expensive ford cars such as mk3/4 escorts and fiestas, you don't have to be front runner to have fun

The high-powered cars were destroying the tyres Porkie as I don't they weren't designed for 500bhp+ cars, for the rest of the field from what I saw they seemed fine for several races, so like Dan is saying I guess you could say that was worst case.
All the latest info is on the official site which is http://www.fordracinguk.com/ Our PF-Sponsored entrants will be closely followed throughout the year and you can see the build of the cars from shell to completion in Performance Ford every month too.
Very tempted to enter the Fiesta for a round too, nope, I'm too chicken something will happen to it... lol
