Good post Spiky, I need to do the same to my 2 Pugs.

Where are you getting the battery boxes from? I'm loathe to pay Demon Thieves prices, but want pretty much everything they sell!

Make sure there secure. They could do alot of damage flying around in a car.

I was told I only needed 170 amp. wouldnt be a bad idea to use slightly larger cable.

Why do you need a kill switch? For track day or something?? What does it kill then and surely you can have a kill switch no matter where the battery is???

Demon Tweeks are blown plastic moulded jobbies.

Dave makes them in glass or carbon as long as you insualate from the carbon those type will be fine

Remember to kill the alternator too if its running

also it would we worth putting a fuse at both ends incase it shorts against the body. The reason i said both ends is due to the fact the alternator makes the power whilst the engine is running so it would blow in the event of a fault, would have to be a big fuse mind to put up with the starter.

I'm using a standard battery at the mo, and have a new one coming in that is 'semi' sealed or something - a grass track racer is supplying me and he uses them as they apparently don't leak when upside down!

What type do I need for those two Tony?

A standard pug wet cell battery will fit in any of those boxes Spiky (Tweeks or Magnum) as you think you may be changing it later down the line it makes sense to go for the cheapest. I think I recall getting AlexF and Pon one for around £20 each.

Si you would need to know the size of the battery to be sure of getting a box to fit. The gel racing batterys we use dont actually need boxes, they can even be fitted upside down if you like. I may know of some secondhand ones going cheapish soon.
