Si you would need to know the size of the battery to be sure of getting a box to fit. The gel racing batterys we use dont actually need boxes, they can even be fitted upside down if you like. I may know of some secondhand ones going cheapish soon.
Let me know on the battery front as I need one more for my other Pug 205. I'll find out tomorrow how big the semisealed one is, then can you see if you can get me a box to suit? Will PM or post on here tomorrow.

Thanking you ta!

Si

metro's are the way forward- good enough for rayland, good enough for me

when i built the 3dr i used a cable from a 325 bmw - it has the battery in the boot as std and being a 6 cylinder its huge (bit like the one you just sold )

Never liked the marine ones for vehicles they are too thin.

Rattle your car upside down and it will break through the plastic and spill acid all over you.

Marine application is different, if your upside down its time to bail out (literally)

Spiky,

I put my battery behind the passenger seat in my 205, thats where I think is best for it for weight distribution, safety and space (you will need all the space you can get in the boot if you take 4 spare rims and tyres along with jack, axle stands and spares)

Although I used 4guage wire for a car stereo amp and when my engine is hot I have trouble starting (which is scary when you spin on track and stall it trsut me), so one of my tasks for the winter is to run bigger cable and sort that out.

You can see my battery here:

The boot floor is much higher than the footwell and if you had an acciden there is is nowhere for my battery to go, whereas it could fly anywhere in the boot!

My old Red Top 30 is still knocking round the garage somewhere

The one on the right in this picture. (Left item is fire extinguisher to balance it out.)

They dont need boxes (although you can buy them)and are a lot safer than wet cells.
