putting battery in the boot
can i assume i just need to run 1 long (positive) cable to the boot, and mount a battery in a battery box and put the negative to the chassis???

Make sure there secure. They could do alot of damage flying around in a car.
I was told I only needed 170 amp. wouldnt be a bad idea to use slightly larger cable.

also it would we worth putting a fuse at both ends incase it shorts against the body. The reason i said both ends is due to the fact the alternator makes the power whilst the engine is running so it would blow in the event of a fault, would have to be a big fuse mind to put up with the starter.

A standard pug wet cell battery will fit in any of those boxes Spiky (Tweeks or Magnum) as you think you may be changing it later down the line it makes sense to go for the cheapest. I think I recall getting AlexF and Pon one for around £20 each.
Si you would need to know the size of the battery to be sure of getting a box to fit. The gel racing batterys we use dont actually need boxes, they can even be fitted upside down if you like. I may know of some secondhand ones going cheapish soon.
