Nokia phones - What's good??
I have had a Nokia 6230i since they came out and am finally due an upgrade. So, without going silly, what's a good phone to ask for?
I don't want anything too fantastic, I'm more interested in paying next-to-bugger-all for it to be honest. I reckon I will stick with Nokia.....

Yes, thats the one I was considering.
How about the 'N' series? Are they worth looking at?
I want something that allows me to text as fast as I do on the 6230i. I'm not too bothered about the camera, but a better screen would be a good move.

I have the N70.... its an ok phone but i dont think its that great! And all of your photo's go into one gallery... so you cant seperate them into "rude" and "general" folders!!

i wouldn't bother with the N series, it seems with nokia that the better the spec of the phone the more unreliable they are
also N series phones use symbian software which is slow and more complicated to use rather than the stand nokia series 40 software
only bad thing with the 6233 is the interal memory is shite! but you go get a memory card tho so not end of the world

I always said that I would never consider any other make of phone apart from Nokia's..... - Went and got a Sony k800i in November I think it was, and wouldn't want to swap it for any current Nokia's on the market

I would be happy with a phone that is usable. Of course I like a few gimmicks, but that seems to be at the expense of usability these days!!
So, other than Nokia, what's good and comparable to the 6233??

The N73 is the Nokia Daddy at the moment. I know at least 5 people that have it, plus me with no problems. At last I feel Nokia have finally delivered a phone that lives up to the promises.
I have even got TOMTOM running on it which is kinda cool.
This version of the OS is no where as slow as the N70 and is not that much slower than the S40 OS that was on my previous phone.

have had the N93 for 2 weks now and i can honestly say its a bloomin amazing fone.
hasn't given me any problems at all, the video quality is briliant as well as the pictures.
the menu system is good and i have not had any problems with operating it.
only downside is you need a high speed 2 gig memory card to get the best from it
i upgraded from the 6680 and it was a hard decision to find my next fone, tried the N70 and didn't like the buttons, N80 picures were dark and not that good .
the 6280 has a habit of cracking screens but is a good fone.
If you want to wait the N95 comes out in around 3 - 4 months .. supposed to be a cracking fone.
go and play with the fones is all i can say mate .

ive got the 6233 and im having trouble with it, ive had to send the 1st one back as it wasnt assembled properly, the screen wasnt fitted right
got the replacement and it started crashing every time i send a pic msg, was told to do a master reset, which has solved the problem only every now and again it just crashes, im gonna get back onto t mobile and see what they say
its nice to use and i text pretty fast and it can manage that no bother

Another vote for the N73 here aswell - got it last month and it's been really good so far
Spent a year with the N70, and I wasn't too into it I must admit. It was slow to do stuff, and everything was a roundabout kinda way of finding stuff, enterng details etc...
The N73 is almost identical to the N70, in terms of set up, menu's etc, but it's less "round about" and much faster. Still a bit slow to "boot up" when you turn it on, but for getting to messages, contacts, etc it's a lot faster than my N70...
Only thing is, it doesn't have a proper hard LCD cover/screen, and if you press it, or even wipe it too hard, it "smears" the LCD, like when you prod a TFT screen, cept it takes a good few seconds to wear off... Not too sure how long that screen will last, as it isn't as rugged as the N70 was....
Camera is shite tho Good for taking pics to show on your phone or send to someone, but horrendous when put on a PC at full, or even half, size Shame really as it's a 3.2 mp camera with Carl Ziess lens

The camera on mine is brilliant (for a camera phone).... I have a K800i at work and there aint much between them.
The K800i and N73 are the best camera phones available at pesent.
The N93 is a right big clodder!!!!! Flips went out with Chaz n Dave!
