DJ's...

Ok I'm sorry for posting that stupid comment about hanging up your cans! I feel like I knob Seriously I do.
He's kept to the scene unlike a lot of dj's when garage went back to underground they'd go and play house. He can pretty much instantly cue a record. I heard a few years ago he charges something like £750 an hour
I have respect for all dj's.
I've been trying to mix for 6 years now

Agree TOTALLY with PON.
When your out clubbin, where this is meant to be heard, you wont even fucking notice, and if you do, you need to hurry up and take some more drink and drugs, or get some mates, as you noticing WAY too much
Its all about keeping the crowd happy, not how perfect the mixing is.

Problem is too many Dj's will notice how crap he really is, and the non Musically talented will think he's the best thing since a free look at your sister's duff.
I like a good dj that can keep my mind off the bad mixing and be like wow that dude is really good. Me, I've been Dj ing for about 20 years have hung around Great Dj's and piss poor shit one's who thought they were good.
I myself listened to DnB all of 5 mins.. I just couldn't get into the Chipmunk sound LOL.
I hung up my phones a while ago but if this is meant for me to hang them up I'd have to have a chuckle... Don't make me come out of retirement!!

A lot of the time, ESPECIALLY with a garage crowd, most punters couldn't give a fuck about mixing quality. It was only ever about what tune dropped, and how you could dance round holding a glass full of champagne whilst disgusing the fact that you had chopped the cost of the bottle with 12 of your mates.

An extended Intro is something that EZ does all the time, his mixing is superb, i've seen him in some of the best clubs in the world and he is simply awesome!
Fair enough if you don't link UK Garage, but shut the fuck up about someone you clearly know nothing about!

Great Post...
EZ is a ~Excellent DJ... Purely because a DJ's job is to get the crown up and feelin involved....
has anyone been to a EZ event and felt his set was shit???
i no i havent... his track selection is awesome he nos what to put on to get u hyped up... and themanner he mixes it teases and makes u want it more...
I love old skool Garage and have Mixxed it since i was 15... so 9 yrs on... ive mixed at few clubs... and had sets for a long while on Bass FM (randy C's old solo station) Flava FM...
and most recently left Touch FM 94.0 last year... so ive experienced quite alot of good and mug DJ's...
EZ is worth the money u pay to get in a club on his own...
DJ ROLLER...

Dj Ez is a very good DJ arguably the best in the UKG scene. That is the main mixing style of a garage DJ, surely every genre has its own particuarly common type of mix???
However if its proper DJ'ing you want look no further than the Scratch Perverts. Made up of three DMC World champions the choice of music from Pendulum to Dead Prez To Prodigy and the way they do it is amazing!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XUf1h7wL7k
If they can mix/scratch like that imagine how easy normal mixing is to them!!

I got DaveEscos on my side so that means you're all cunts No just kidding.
I like all styles of dance music except trance...really cant stand it...Its all the same, loads of string type music then the "quiet bit" with a man that says something like "I AM a knob" etc lol.
Hard house is ok but its just drug music. I've watched those Eddie halliwell vid clubs a few times now
I've heard EZ mix garage into DnB too...

A lot of DJ's nowadays are living off their reputation and cannot mix properly..or are too lazy (?) to do it. Preferring to just cut the beat then start the next track.
I like to listen to a good mix from track to track and hate it when I'm DJ-ing if it's not right..even tho no-one else notices, I notice.

I used to work for Garage/One Nation and have seen some really disgusting mixing from so called professionals, although not all the time, maybe some of them should leave the class A alone, but nothing come close to the up and coming bedroom dj's who think they can mix in the club enviroment, believe me they just can't, We(One nation) used to run an up and coming room/corridor/broom cupboard basicaly to fill a space for free, well a few guest lists, but the countless demo tape i used to get from these muppets wanting to play the main arena was truly amazing, they used to get launched out of the car window on the way home sorry guys

bit of a cunts attitude really isnt it
Every DJ started off either in his bedroom, or mates bedroom/studio
Out of interest, what did you actually 'do' for turbo promotions!?

Its not what you know its who you know at the end of the day.
There are some big name dj's out there who cant mix for shit. the biggest name is that Tiesto cunt. Absolute shit dj yet people worship him as a god.
Also something I noticed VERY quickly is you can be a shit DJ but if you play tunes everyone knows they love you.
If your the most technically gifted dj ever in the universe and you play a set of stuff that the crowd dont quiet know your seen as rubbish!
Best way I got into the scene was take a bag of tunes along to an illegal rave and just ask one of the rigs for a set. 9 times out of 10 they say go for it!

The difference with bedroom dj's are some think they can mix and some actually can mix, we booked guys for the main arena that could
That's why Garage/One Nation was at the top of it's game
Does it really matter what Terry or Jason employed me to do!

That wasn't the most amazing set he's ever done and was barely out of his intro at all but he's still one of the best DJ's going and like Adam said, he lines up records in the blinks of an eye and is awesome live!
My point exactly thank you!
Dave, keep it coming!

SimonT I think tiesto also gets good reviews for the awesome tunes he mixes..then drops into the sets.
Unlike someone like fatboy slim who does crap remixes, crap mixes..then stands there with his arm in the air waiting for the adoration from the losers who go to listen to him.
I do agree that it's about playing the right tracks, but also about the technical side. That's why I love trying to do long mixes but only play cracking tunes
