Nick. 02-01-2007 12:34 PM

Thats music is it?? could have fooled me

Martyn 02-01-2007 12:38 PM

What the fuck is good about that?
He doesnt actually mix any tunes atall, just chops afew beats in from the intro of the 2nd tune then drops it in on the breakdown.
Nothing special atall IMO
Thats how most people mix when they are learning still

JohnnyB 02-01-2007 12:38 PM

All I could here is double beats,

JohnnyB 02-01-2007 12:39 PM

Martyn 02-01-2007 12:51 PM

Ive seen many a dj play a set and just chop ever mix without actually ever playing 2 tunes together, usually the mark of a shit DJ....

mk1_orion_boy 02-01-2007 12:54 PM

Yeah I understand he does play the same 20. I do mention him a lot so please dont think I'm gay I just really look up to his style and what he's done for the scene. I got some good mixes on mp3 of him mixing "properly" to you trance people :DD:
Its just the energy that goes into that first mix!

Martyn 02-01-2007 12:55 PM

What has he done for the scene?

Wazzzer 02-01-2007 12:56 PM

mk1_orion_boy 02-01-2007 12:59 PM

Leave me alone!
Out of interest is there any (famous?) dj's here that play in clubs?

DaveEscos 02-01-2007 01:01 PM

i havent listened to it, but watched it.....

pony music BUT

come on.. DJ's on here.. how many times have you cut a tune in and it sounds the nuts.. then the adrenaline kicks in and you bounce around like a gibbon.. just like EZ (no racial link there btw  )

I prefer smooth, transitional mixes as much as the next bloke... but sometimes cutting isnt a bad thing.. but im talking about double drops etc.. not sharp, loud, un EQ'd stabs....

fuzzy 02-01-2007 01:04 PM

i could only manage 1 minute and 30 seconds of that, did you get many bottles thrown from the crowd bouncing of your head ?

Martyn 02-01-2007 01:05 PM

im not a famous dj but i have djd in alot of clubs across the northwest

RichardPON 02-01-2007 03:20 PM

Adam - EZ a legend?

I've seen him enough times live to know that some of his mixing can be diabolical.

However, his track selection and ability to keep the energy level up at a club etc is what he's well known for. Nothing wrong with that if you know what you're getting, as some DJs who can properly mix often have no idea how to create an atmosphere.... leaving tracks in too long, looking for seamless mixes etc....

A lot of the time, ESPECIALLY with a garage crowd, most punters couldn't give a fuck about mixing quality. It was only ever about what tune dropped, and how you could dance round holding a glass full of champagne whilst disgusing the fact that you had chopped the cost of the bottle with 12 of your mates.

Eagle 02-01-2007 04:14 PM

i have a good mate who is really good .. i dont think even he realises it.
was very funny watching him outplay antonio once

Not famous but I have been a DJ for 11 years, played Yates, Time and Envys, Lava and Ignite, Chicago Rocks up and down the country.

The mixing skills are diabolical on that link, however, "cut and paste" as its best known is a popular way of switching tracks in this scene.

At the end of the day the crowd are going wild and thats what matters.....

They are paying the entry fees and spending behind the bar, so if they are happy then the promoters are happy and the wages for the DJ will go up.

I am sure DJ EZ can mix but his way of DJing is very popular and his earning him far more money than any of us.. :D

Phil DJ 02-01-2007 07:30 PM

Big respect to DJ Ectic. His mixing sounded pretty good in that video

GTechR 02-01-2007 08:00 PM

Really? Is that whats classed as good DJ'ing now?

Fook me i'm getting some decks again.

R4N SS 02-01-2007 08:07 PM

that music is shit

fair play with that comment, that link still doesn't want me to give up mixing though, even though I am still a bedroom DJ :top:
