Default cossie pistons

is there any way of tellin if they are 2wd or 4x4 ones
as they are in the car,the heads coming of soon and want to know if poss
the cars a 2wd but theres no slap,telling me they could be 4x4 ones

you can tell when the head is off by the look of them.

Sure 4x4 got bigger bowls in the tops of the pistons.

they will have numbers on the edge of the pistons too telling you the size etc..

replacin with multilayer and was woundering,


got an oil leak from the gasket so decided to change ,along with the cam belt and other gaskets

...if you put 4x4 pistons in a 2wd block with std thickness head i beleive you get 7.8-1 or 7.9-1 cant remember

yes, its only done68k
its got a grpa(gasket) on the mo but not sure if been machined before

so the comp will be a bit lower then with having the 2wd head mated to 4wd pistons.

Some people get away with just changing to the steel gaskets without skimming.

depends how thick your head is,best to check that first.

if you have got 2wd unskimmed head and 4wd pistons the compression ratio is 7:7:1 exactly no matter if it's in a 2wd block or a 4wd block

yes but that 1 could kill an engine

and for the record you would be susprised what i know about the yb engines i have had cossys and pinto powered cars all my life
