That isnt a mag-lite.

Thats a base-ball bat....in your case, a weapon of choice, chosen to hit someone.

Internet flippancy disallowed then? I wouldn't hit anyone with anything. It was an example of the effect of reasonable force dependant on size, which is a whole different matter to that of pre-meditated weapon use

If you remove the weapon from an assailant, then reasonable force, would be for you to in turn use that same weapon to DEFEND yourself.

Or if they already have a weapon, you could obtain a similar weapon for defence.

Actually carrying a weapon, is an aggressive move, not a defensive one.

well they werent baseball bats but 2 foot long maglites, i just said bats so youd know what i meant.

plus we dont know who it is, we saw 3 people in a silver escort drive up and down, i can think of several people with ones including the 3 that jumped me, but i dont think they have my address.

they aint come back yet but we will be ready.

Carrying and using a weapon that was not intended to be a weapon until the self defence issue is of relevance isn't an agressive move. Carrying anything isn't an offence unless it's regarded as an offensive item. I can carry a maglite to work...which is heavy enough to do some very serious cranial damage I'd imagine.

The point of contention warranted that you assess the use of a weapon by different persons, eg, normal person, versus a marine, an individual trained to be of a certain standard of physical capability.
If you want me to change it to read ''work/task appropriate item used during suitable time frame in suitable circumstances and situ in a manner which was not unforseeable to a reasonable objective bystander'' then I will. But what would be the point bar to be pedantic for people who wouldn't need to start this thread (that wasn't meant disrespectfully, but I'd assume it isn't a question you'd ask)...it wouldn't be of any more use to the topic starter, who I assume, doesn't have an understanding of the specific area that would warrant that to be neccessary..or he wouldn't be asking..

pm me if you have anything further..this is probably quite annoying for everyone else to read.

In conclusion....

Both dress up as giant fish..dance around outside their house singing
''we are the ghosts of the christmas fish you threw at the house down the road, we are the ghosts of the christmas fish and we're all alone in the world''...keep singing this until they lose the will to live and hit themselves with fish...

the eggs seem to have been thrown from the main road, we live opposite the petrol station in east taphouse for those of you who know the place.

so they take the time to go to my house, lob 2 fish at the front window (im guessing they were gonna put it through the letterbox we just happened to turn the tv off at the right time?) then 3 hours later lobb 3 eggs at the back of the house ?

they aint come back yet.

gonna check if the petrol station has it on cctv tommorow.
Perhaps you advertised your house on another forum like you have done here and someone thought it would be funny. I know roughly where that is as I used to go through there on the way to Plymouth a couple of times a year.

The next Weston meet could involve a drive by!

As others have said, why would a marine need anything and how do you plan on catching them if they are driving by each time and not on foot? It is more likely that because you live in the middle of no where, they can drive past at speed and not worry about being seen unlike if they were in Plymouth itself.

In short.... YES.

Unless you can convince the police otherwise......and I wouldnt like to be in that position.

I was once with a poxy baton with Lanzarote stamped on it, that a mate had brought back from holiday.
I rarely use the car that I was driving that night, and it had been lying in the car for months since he gave me it.

We were stopped at a routine check, and it was spotted. Of course the police went daft, despite it being a lightweight POS. If you were to hit someone, it would have broke.
They had me stopped for about an hour while they searched the car, finding nothing obviously.

They threatened all sorts, and I just told the to wise up. I lodged a complaint against them for detaining and carrying out an illegal search against my will, and tried to raise charges of steailing the gift from me.

Eventually they dropped everything and the gift was returned to me ( after about 2 years ), although my complaints against them, were never really taken seriously by the Ombudsman either.

You may not think these things are weapons....well, by asking, you know its a weapon. Just be aware there can be nasty consequences.

With Officer Dibble, he might believe that......

Even Cleetus wouldnt though if you were stopped under even slightly suspicious circumstances.
