My mate had to shar pei and the only problem he found was that they kept getting sores in the folds of skin

They are lovely dogs,,,,,BUT they do need alot of work!
Chooks best mate Dan, his mum had one, shes got rid of it now tho Think she gave it away or something.

They have to be bathed etc all the time as apparently they really stinky Speak to chook huni, I'm sure he'll tell ya

My friends bouh one years ago, CUTE as anything started to get a litle nasty as it grew though, they still have it, but have to be very careful where they take it, gorgeous dogs though, id love one, but I dont have the expertise to look after a dog like that, ill stick to my lab lol

You have to wash theyre face everytime after they eat as the skin hides all sorts apart from that theyre just ure normal dog really.You can use baby wipes to clean theyre face dont need to get the basic etc out m8

They are gorgeous dogs there is on in the garnier advert a guy up the road used to have one called chewie if i get a dog thats what i want unfortunetly im out 8 and a half hours a day it wouldnt be fair

folds og skin gives sores as said and also remember theywas bredas fighting dogs too

they might look cute but they are japanese fighting dogs and were bread for that reason (not saying that you are going to use it for that )

get one from a puppy (you train it to suit) dont get one that is 2/3/4 yrs old because you wont know what type of personality the dog might have
and if you have got kids they might not take to them
they do get a bit jealouse


I have a Dolbermann bitch(black/tan ) and she is 4yrs old same sort of thing i had her from a puppy (6weeks old) as she is great with the kids (because she knows no different ) i would never buy any dog older than that not when kids are involved

i dont beleive in that if a dog was breed (all those years ago) as fighting dogs


i think its all to do with their up bringing/ training


my sister has a staff and its the most placid dog you would ever meet

the dolbremann was bread as a (german gaurd dog) all those yrs ago
they suppose to have a bad rep that is totaly untrue

as you said it's how you bring them up

ask any one that knows about dogs it is a japanese fighting dog thats the breed but it doesn't mean that it's vicious
