Its been done plenty of times in the past.

Considering the availability and price of steel rods these days it seems sensible to use them in a big power engine though.

My old fiesta was a completely standard engine bar low comp and a quality cam, even the head was left untouched - held 1.5 bar and RR'd @ 255bhp and 252Ft lb!

Never had a problem with that! I know plenty of people running that sort of power on standard components, although if money would allow, a set of steel rods is always the better option!

my cab has standard (all be it new) rods, running a t34 with 20+Psi forged acralite (+1mm) pistons, a re-ground and balanced crank with arp bolts and HD bearings.
seems ok to me
although i wouldnt personally go for much more power without changing the rods... dont really want about 3k's worth of engine going up in a dirty cloud of smoke just because i didnt fit steel rods!

Bloody hell!!!!

Make your mind up which engine you want to use in your bloody KA

First it was a YB, then you were going to put in a zetec and now it is a CVH. You change your mind more than my missus in a clothes shop.
