i remember when i got sapphire cosworth,
i had just brought it and stopped at a petrol garage in birmingham and a guy come over and said "thats mint! you dont see many of them these days, do you want to sell it?" i'd only had it for ten or fifteen minutes!!!

Have to admit when I see a RS on the road (which is rare)I do have a look look and nod at the driver if I see them.
Saw a nice white S2 the other night and it looked so nice and different as you never see them about anymore.Gave a quick nod to him and he done the same as well.

infact.. out of all the escort owners who can honestly say their car is totally original with out rust.? how many have replaced the sills,floor plan,arches.. redone the filler cap.. sorted the well know cossy rash? Come on.. even though the cars are getting on a little it doesn't excuse the fact the build quality is very poor when put up against the japs cars of this world... don't get me wrong.. their are a few rotten jap cars out their but their more than very good on an average. yes i drive an escort but i use the celica as a daily drive basically because it never fails to start.. or rust or break down ect.. yet its running 297bhp on the last RR now how many if any, can run twice the amount of boost an standard internals and cover 30k?

I can say my car has no rust what so ever and is original, but your right it is hardly ever used and kept in a carcoon

Ok i dont drive it that much, but i wouldnt change it for anything. 
Personally, ive never heard of any escos needing sills, floor pans, arches, welding etc. Im not going to say they dont rust as no doubt there are a few about that do have rust but its not the big deal your making it out to be. Most cars from the early 90's will suffer from rust somewhere.
However, the majority are looked after properly, and to think there as bad as you seem to think, is very neive in my opinion.
Cosworth owners know what they have is a very desirable, capable and respected car, and they know that 99% of petrolheads will agree.
