Default CVH

i am currently having a 1600 lump rebuilt for my frst after the zvh packed up

i would like a reliable 220ish bhp

are the standard cvh pistons and rods up2 the job or will i need forged pistons? and better rods?

what sort of boost can standard cvh pistons takle

and what boost can forged pistons take..???

will it be worth porting the head and having larger valves?

thanks

Default rods

standard rods will take no more than 230bhp be best to go low compression too if that power is wanted to be achieved.

yes low compression can be acheived many ways, will i just need to lower the c/r or will i also need forged pistons?

thanks

There are cars out there running more than 230 on standard rods and pistons.

For 220 ish, i'd use around 8 to 1 compression ratio, standard rods and malhe pistons, ported head and a cam of some description with anti pump followers. Thats assuming you already have things like big intercooler, bigger turbo.

you dont need low compression at 220bhp

standard rods will take 250 bhp but would advise uprated arp rod bolts

standard pistons will take around 250 aswell if on efi management as its ussally the mfi managment that cant fuel properly that kills them

for 220 bhp i would go for a ported head from nms or jamsport as this will allow more power with less boost and a big intercooler

i know rick had a nms big valve head and made 210bhp at 11psi from a 1600

Mine runs standard rods and machined pistons to lower the c/r, cossie t3, kent cvh 34, beige's and stage 2 head.

Should be at around the 200-225 area but it hasnt been on the RR yet, 225 is my max figure as the injectors are maxing out at that figure iirc

dazc do you mean standard mahles or low comp forged mahles?

210bhp from 11psi??? WOW

how much are those heads?? surely a ported head would lower the c/r anyhow??

how come standard cvh pistons can take 250bhp but standad skimmed zetec ones cant?

standard mahle rst pistons are squeeze cast

the zetecs are just cast pistons and not designed at all for turbo charging

I wasn't aware that Mahle make forged pistons mate. I meant the high pressure cast standard pistons.
