high mileage escos
are they worth it?
there is a 94k one at j28 for 11k ish
are high mileage cossies worth it or more hassle than there worth?
thinkin bout selling the bmw and frst and getting one but dont really want to spend more than 12k
what do you think...?
does anyone on here have a high mileage one thats still going and what power are they running? if its still on the original engine that is?

Damo V s has done 115,000 miles and is running 375bhp, dont think its had a rebuild but has had a cylinder go i think. esc cos go on condition rathere than mileage if its been serviced properly and looked after dont see why you should have problems

What if it had 60,000 miles mate but was a bit rough, would you fell better?
These cars have all had a beating in there day mate, but you can beat them and take good care of them very easy, thats what you need to find
I couldnt care if it had 170,000 miles as long as it had bills and shit to prove work and it went ok with no rattles and shit i`d buy with no problems atall
For me miles dont mean everything, condition is the most important

maxest i have seen many escos bewteen 10-12k. i havent personally bothered to go look tho so cant dislose whether they were any good, have looked at a few bewteen 14k -20k the 20k one was good and the 14k ok but didnt run right
i can stretch to 18k-20k but then coudlnt afford a house, if i want a house aswell it will need to be a 12-14k escos
NUTTIN RILLA, if it had 60k and was rought i would walk away quite obviosuly
if i found a very good cond well looked after 100k escos i would buy at the right price of course but this post was too find out if there are many running high mileages and whether there a 'bargain buy' and can be reliable or whether it would be best to save a few more pennies and get a low milage Ł18k + one

I agree with most on here, Condition is more important. Mileage isnt a problem....I looked at plenty low milers in tatty condition that would have taken lots of ŁŁŁŁ to get back to great condition and also some high milers in good condition. I opted for a lot less than average miler but in great condition to start with.....Did pay a lot more for it though!!! If this car you like has a folder of receipts like mine came with you can put your mind at rest by going through these knowing its had what its needed most of its life.
Its up to you though mate.

Mine has just clocked 113,000 this morning
Had a powers Blueprint before I bought it which had done 20k miles, I bought it 4 or 5 years ago and it had 97k on the clock...... had Ł000s in reciepts in invoices, most things I would have ever wanted to do had been done and I paid a damn sight more than Ł11k I can tell you!! as far as I was concerned it was the right car for me and after looking at many, all of which were alot lower mileage it was the best of the bunch others were dearer and rusting and had panels/paint etc etc ... not for me..
I melted a piston last year which can happen on any engine, that isnt mileage dependant... so it had a proper new engine built for it which has now done about 2k!!

mine has just turned 100k and is running 360bhp ,car is like new and still drives like new, only thing its had done was head gasket but that was because i had it chipped and was told to have a uprated 1,had car 3 years now and never let me down, and would want more the 11k for it if i was selling it.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
be realistic about it, cars do 10 to 15,000 miles a year.
the youngest Escos are already more than 10 years old.
Dont buy one based on the mileage buy on condition and history.

alot of escos are not used as an everyday car REMEMBER THAT
360bhp on standard internals??? 100k thats amazing matey
i would only but car with FSH with every receipt for a service and every mot from new, not matter what mileage end of LOL
well if a 10 year old ca had 50k on it and no history then its doubtful its a genuine 50k

Theres a cracker for sale ATM with every bit of history you could want
Seriously though you should be able to tell almost straight away if the car your looking at has had the time and money spent on it that it deserves. I would not be put off by the milleage at all if its been looked after.
My last saff was sitting with just over 145,000 miles on it and there was nothing wrong with that. Again though i had every receipt from new for the car so it had a nice history.
Good luck in your search mate

well if it were me the first thing i would consider is regardless of mileage condition etc if you bought it and it went bang on way home or after a couple of weeks could you afford to sort it either by replacement engine or full rebuild as at the end of the day why buy it if you cant maintain it. also its a cossie at the end of the day and although engines are ready availible body panels etc are rocking horse im a mechanic so it wouldnt bother me either way as i would sort it so as long as it was at a good price and in a respectible condition i would buy it. if i had to pay for everything to be done on it then thats different as theres not much point in buying a cheap one that you know is going to need work rather than a mint one that shouldnt need anything or it will be spend spend all the time and cossies as we all know are not the cheapest toys to have but they are the most fun if you are a mechanical person and can tackle most things then go for the high mile car if not then you should buy best you can afford

please remember when buying any COSWORTH that in there day
they were some of the best cars to clock
i have seen cars a few years later with the early history gone
and now "showing" low miles,
i would rather buy the 94 k miles one with history for 11 large
than one that could of done 89k miles and then has had a haircut to
45 and then the history starts.
