Focus RS as a daily driver?
How viable a proposition is this? I'm selling my Escort Cossie but wondered whether the Focus RS is a viable car to run every day, I do about 18k miles a year now commuting then normal running about.
I have to cut some costs and if it was a viable option and someone wanted to do a swap for my Escort Cossie I could sell my diesel car and just have one car to tax, insure, mot and maintain.
Any thoughts anyone? I may be looking for a job nearer home too soon, so the mileage may not be quite so much of an issue.

I must admit the amount of miles I drive a year I would like to do it in something enjoyable, if it's a cost effective(ish) proposition. I know it won't be as economical as a diesel but if I only have to run one car there's a good saving to be made in that aspect of it.

at 18k a year then id say buy a low miler and then sell it after a year...otherwise another 18k year will really lose money on it. IF ya going to be working nearer home then id say go for it Trev. As dave says people seem to have them as dailys

Go for it trev, you could always have one for 6 months, sell it and buy another low miler as youll hardly lose on one if you put 9k on it ...

Hmmm, worth a thought. It really would help me at the moment if I only had one car, and because nearly all my driving is to work and back It seems to make sense to have a car that's fun to drive, although what Boncaster would say about insuring a Focus RS for about 20k miles a year I don't know!

I used my FRS as a daily driver for about 18 months up to a few months back. Got it with 15K and its got 37K on it now. Reason I stopped using it was I was always worried leaving it carparks, more for the risk of parking dents than anything. Also the fuel cost is high, the 850 T5 I use now is slightly better (not by much tho )
I also want to mod the engine further and take it over 300 bhp so it i'll be worse on fuel.
Now I dont use it on a daily basis I really appreciate it when I do get to drive it.

I used my FRS as a daily driver from new and sold it when I left for Oz in May this year. Can't quite remember but I think it had just over 60K on clock by then and only got 10750 for it.
Still I enjoyed every one of those miles and it never missed a beat.
Would recommend it. Got 30+ MPG too almost all of the time.
