I had LASEK done about 3years ago - best thing ever.
hurt like a bastard for about 1-2 days and not good for about 3-5. You really do need to have a couple of days off after.
There are many different types of surgery and people are all talking about different ones and their matesa are all having different ones again.
As my prescription was less than 2diotropes in both eyes i had the version where they soften the epithelium and push it out of the way. Zap the underlying cornea. Whilst this method hurts like a twat it has the *least* sides effects.
If you have a larger prescription they do the flap version (i think this is the LASIK version). This one is not supposed to hurt as much but you run the risk of the flap moving.
I get no haze or halo effect. this used to happen when they didnt treat the whole pupil - older laser machines. At night it would expand (strange that) and you would start to see an area of untreated (ie. pre-treatment prescription).
It was the best thing i did - however, in twenty years when i go blind i may wish to retract this statement!!!

Hmmmm I'm thinking about getting this done because my lens cost so much to have thinned down to fit in the frames I can wear. I'm something like -5.25 in both eyes but not sure about my other "measurements" are. I've got myopia (short sightedness) and astigmatism. My brother-in-law had this done recently and he said it was the best thing he's done.
